I literally caved for the original ROTJ Luke yesterday with Sideshow's double rewards and using some of my own left over rewards...

What are the friggin' odds!?

Now I don't know what to do.

Man what a double dipping **** move from Hot Toys releasing this right after the original.

Not really happy with the way this release was handled. Really think that an accessory pack should have been released alongside these full figure versions, or the original release should have been a DX.

I'll try my luck getting the extra head and hair sculpts when this releases, but I won't be buying the figure.

May have to pick up the windswept hair at some point. Otherwise I much prefer this current version over the Deluxe. Creepy-*** headsculpts and a bunch of accessories I’d never use.

What will be interesting to see is if the new release improves the black bodysuit and overall proportions everyone has been customizing to address since it came out.

I'm still trying to work on more pics of him regardless of the new one coming out, time and opportunity have been short.

Hmm, the new Deluxe release honestly only makes me want to pick up this current version. Not a fan of the gritted teeth sculpt or the side-eye look, don’t need the Endor outfit, and the windswept hair doesn’t look all that windswept, as somebody mentioned. I still think it’s a cool release, but personally I’m good with the existing version.

Yeah, this release is the one I wanted truthfully.

For RotJ Luke, I only ever wanted the option of the Jedi look or the DS II look. I feel either of those two looks best represent him from the film. I personally was never really a fan of the Endor gear look. The gritted teeth sculpt to me looks odd, and for the other sculpt it looks like they merely repainted this sculpt with the eyes gazing to the right, but I prefer them looking straight ahead the way the sculpt on this figure is; looking to one side kind of limits posing options. The only thing of mild interest to me in the new deluxe set would be the wind swept hair, but even then, it's still not a must have.

For many people, the new deluxe set is what they wanted for RotJ Luke all along, but I'm in the minority and am glad they did this more stripped down release. As mentioned, what this figure came with is pretty much what I wanted out of a RotJ Luke, and it would have been a bummer to have to pay close to $300 to get one simply because it comes with a myriad of accessories and outfits that I don't have any interest in.

And even though I don't have any intention of posing him with the cloak on at the moment, I'd rather have that as an outfit option every day of the week and twice on Sunday in lieu of that sand gear outfit from a deleted scene.

I really like the Sandstorm look, but it's definitely not worth paying extra for in a Deluxe set.

What HT really should have done is have one figure with the cloak, Jedi tunic, and sandstorm gear from the first half of the movie, and a second figure with the DS outfit and Endor gear from the second half of the movie.

That’s what I was thinking they were going to do.

This release is best equipped for the first half of the film, and while you can still get the DS II look out of it, it isn’t really equipped for the second half. No Endor gear and an inadequate amount of gloved hands. An Endor Luke release could have boasted the Endor gear and the DS II look, the gritted teeth sculpt plus an extra hair piece, and a full set of gloved hands being that’s all he had in the second half. That way both figures still come with accessories that the other didn’t have, but are still compatible with one another.

I think what kinda bugs me about this Endor release is all of us that got the DX Jedi Luke saw that his hair was removable and held with a magnet, made me kinda hope there would be some accessory pack release with the Endor gear, or to get people interested in Endor Leia, include Luke's Endor gear with her as an incentive. This just seems kinda crappy, essentially the same figure but with more hair, another face and the Endor gear and deleted scene gear. I mean hey for anyone who didn't get Jedi Luke this will scratch that itch I guess. SSC was cool to put all of this gear into their upcoming Jedi Luke, wish Hot Toys did the same.

I’ve personally never been able to fathom why so many people were fully expecting an actual accessory pack as a supplement to this figure. The manual states “future accessories,” not specifically an ‘accessory pack’. HT very seldom ever does accessory packs to single figures; however, they have for the last year or so been showcasing an Endor Luke. “Future accessories” to me always meant that accessories from the two separate figure releases would be interchangeable. An actual accessory pack to me always seemed very slim.

So I’m just surprised that they didn’t do simply an Endor/DS II figure, with the gritted teeth sculpt and a full set of gloved hands, and instead decided to release a set that covers all looks (sans cloak). A simple Endor/DS II figure to me would have gotten the job done in incentivizing people to get that in addition to this figure, being that both releases would come with items that the other one doesn’t have, without having to cannibalize sales of this figure.

Oh for sure, I didn't think HT would actually do an accessory pack, I just think they should have in this case (more of wishful thinking). Or, should have included the Endor gear with the Luke they released earlier this year. SSC has theirs loaded with his Jabba's palace and Endor gear, HT could have done that or included Luke's Endor gear with Endor Leia. Unless hella people are loaded, I can't see too many throwing down $500 for 2 figures that are mostly the same.
