I think what kinda bugs me about this Endor release is all of us that got the DX Jedi Luke saw that his hair was removable and held with a magnet, made me kinda hope there would be some accessory pack release with the Endor gear, or to get people interested in Endor Leia, include Luke's Endor gear with her as an incentive. This just seems kinda crappy, essentially the same figure but with more hair, another face and the Endor gear and deleted scene gear. I mean hey for anyone who didn't get Jedi Luke this will scratch that itch I guess. SSC was cool to put all of this gear into their upcoming Jedi Luke, wish Hot Toys did the same.

When have they EVER released an accessory pack? lol. I'm surprised how many of you guys are pissed off because you didn't get this and instead there was another figure (which we already knew was coming for a long time when the Endor was shown).
Would you have preferred the Endor one have nothing with it and that way you can just feel better about your purchase? In reality, you can just buy the hair parted out if you want probably for the same amount as an "accessory pack" would sell for from HT anyway.

And let's be real, tons of the people complaining are the same people who bought 2 of the first version because they wanted more options lmao.

I’ve personally never been able to fathom why so many people were fully expecting an actual accessory pack as a supplement to this figure. The manual states “future accessories,” not specifically an ‘accessory pack’. HT very seldom ever does accessory packs to single figures; however, they have for the last year or so been showcasing an Endor Luke. “Future accessories” to me always meant that accessories from the two separate figure releases would be interchangeable.

An actual accessory pack to me always seemed very slim.

Its not un reasonable to have thought theyd do a pack, they did it for iron man, even dressed him in the accessories, so dont act all holier than though about being right this time..

Before you speak maybe do some research, theyve done a couple

I’m not attempting to be sanctimonious, I’m just being pragmatic and dealing in facts, not hypotheticals. “They did it for Iron Man” wasn’t really emperical evidence that there’d specifically be one for Luke Skywalker. However, seeing that there was going to be an Endor Luke Skywalker figure likely released was a pretty good harbinger that’s what they were referring to by “future accessories.”

Not only that but those people who are complaining they want all the available accessories from this new release could buy it and sell off the parts they don’t want.

An extra head
Body
Boots
Hands
Pants
Shirt
Vest
Belt
Light saber hilt
Light up arm
Gun
Sandstorm gear

You could sell all these parts if you don’t want another figure and make almost what you paid for it and essentially get the parts you want for free.

I look at it as an opportunity not a burden. Of course I bought two of the original release for different looks on display and will buy the deluxe for the endor figure on another shelf so to me it’s a blessing rather than a reason to curse HT.

That's actually a pretty good point. One could buy this Endor Luke and sell off nearly everything but the Endor gear that you'd want. Ideally I'd like to get this, if they did this figure with a speederbike too I don't think I'd be able to pass it up haha!

If you're referring to the Iron Man Mark L and the Hulkbuster accessory sets - are you aware that those retail for $240? People here are acting like HT was gonna release a nice $30 pack that came with everything they wanted and they're somehow betrayed because they didn't get that lmao.

What are you guys even pissed about?

We knew Endor Luke was coming. I can understand being pissed at the reveal, but that's it. You already bought ROTJ Luke - it's not like if they released a DX that was literally that same figure + stuff you'd go "oh well that's cool!". You guys would probably be MORE upset if it were the OG + extras. And if the new version were just the poncho and cap, you'd ***** about it being barebones.
Basically, people are just whining and freaking about being "stabbed in the back" because they already bought a figure and HT released another version of it which they've done numerous times, and people are acting like they had no idea it was coming. And again, the majority of the people complaining about what a cheap move it is from HT are those who bought 2 of the initial release just to have him displayed a different way.

Exactly - it's a win win for everyone. If you want this figure, buy it. If you want the original release, buy it. If you have the ROTJ and want extra windswept hair, now you have that option - buy it loose.

We all knew Endor Luke was coming. And if this was never announced, well then you don't get any of those extra options ever. The people complaining are being moronic and acting as if somehow the figure that was already released, that they already purchased, was magically going to turn into a DX and they would have all the extra stuff sent to them for free. And before another person whines about "well they've done accessory packs in the past!!!!!" yeah, for $240. So I guess somehow people like LipSmack would rather spend $240 for an accessory pack than (probably) 250-300 for the whole set and just sell off what you don't need. Or, you know, just buy the extra stuff you want loose.

Really don't understand how people are upset about this. If you're going to complain and feel betrayed by HT every time they release a variant or DX of a figure, this is not the hobby for you.

You need to tone it down. Folks have a right to their opinion without one guy spamming multiple posts telling them to buy the parts loose, making fun of them for buying more than 1, or calling their viewpoints ‘moronic’

If you can’t comprehend that different people collect in different ways and be civil about it, perhaps this is not the place to be for you.

As for me, I just collect 1 of each, and there’s nothing I personally need or want in this release over the regular, but I can see why folks who care about completionism could be taking this the way they are. I’m sure had HT offered different bundles from the get go, many would have chosen the deluxe over the (slightly) older release.

Right, because reading 10 pages of people whining about being "betrayed" by Hot Toys for double dipping, when those people literally double dipped and bought 2 ROTJ figures is reasonable and sound logic. You quoted me three times and still misread it. :rotfl

I'm not making fun of people that buy multiples of the same figure. What I was pointing out was people are complaining about Hot Toys releasing another version of it with different options, when they purchased two of the same just to be able to display one with a cloak and one without and then getting upset at HT calling it a "double dipping money grab!!".

If people want to buy 10 of the same figure, that's totally cool. But then it's hypocritical for them to whine about being betrayed and calling it a money grab when they announce another version. Again, not going to type everything out again (thanks for putting it all in one place for people to read so easily btw)... but what would the people who are upset have liked instead? People are complaining saying it should have been a DX/all-in-one AFTER they already purchased the original Luke. If this figure came with a hood and the forward facing sculpt, people would be more upset because they already bought the first anyway. I can understand the reaction to wanting it all as a DX when ROTJ Luke was announced and the SDCC was shown, but complaining about it after you've already purchased the figure literally has no point.

These people can buy the parts loose now if they want them. If they don't, they should be happy with their ROTJ release. If they want the new figure, they can have that to. Again, I'll reiterate that many people complaining are acting as if they should just get all the extra stuff for free.

To me, this is all great news. For people that just want to pick up the poncho, they can do that now. For people who just want some extra black gloved hands, yay. Hair, etc. People have options now that they didn't have a few days ago. Not sure how anyone can consider that a bad thing.

I’m in the same camp.

This MMS429 release is perfect for me because I’ve never been a fan of the Endor gear. Jedi and DS II looks are all I wanted. Like you said, I can understand though why some people who got this figure might feel a bit miffed. All HT ever teased and displayed at cons was an Endor Luke; they never gave any indication they were going to do a complete set that included just about every look. So I can see why people might have purchased this figure, fully expecting them to release merely a separate Endor figure (like they’d shown), only to have HT release a compete deluxe set. So in addition to having paid the $229 for this figure, they now have to also pay $282 if they want an Endor Luke as opposed to another $229, and had they not already gotten this figure, would have only had to pay $282 to get both essentially this figure and the Endor figure in one grab.

Well, actually people can just buy the non-deluxe if they really only want the endor version.

And honest question - do you think if just the Endor Version were announced (no DX), would people complain any less? I don't think so. I imagine people would be saying it's a stupid money grab and $230 for a poncho and a cap. And the DX doesn't come with a normal face that is looking forward - which IMO is a big draw of the first one still.

I can kinda see everyone's view point here. I'm a completionist and would have preferred all the Jabba's Palace and Endor gear in one release. But I understand why Hot Toys is doing it this way, I just can't afford it or, would rather have 2 different figures entirely. I think most people (myself included) wouldn't have such an issue with this release if it wasn't the same year as the Jedi Luke release. If HT put this out in like Q2 of 2019 or later I don't think some people would feel duped. I mean I don't feel duped, I saw the pics of this figure at Comic Con this year. But ultimately I get most everyones viewpoint here. No one is forcing anyone to double dip, there are a few sites we can go to to get accessories and figures pieced out, so I'm sure most people will be happy one way or another. I fully agree with everyone about how they should have put a gloved saber holding hand with this without the light up feature. Still not a huge deal tho. Honestly I'm just happy to talk figures with people here and see peoples viewpoints and opinions, even when they don't align with mine!

Is there a non deluxe version that’s just the Endor figure that they always showed? I wasn’t privy of that.

But no, I don’t think that any route you went, everyone would have been pleased. However, I think either making a compete set from the beginning, or just doing this MMS429 release and then a separate Endor figure, would have been the best you can do. Most people would want the complete set, but I’d be in the minority who would prefer the two separate releases because I have no interest in the Endor gear. So I would have been a bit bummed if I had to pay close to $300 for a RotJ Luke because it includes a bunch of outfits I don’t want. Demonstrates the point that people have different preferences, and you’re never going to please everyone.

My ideal release would have been this MMS429 release to essentially cater to the first half of the film and include all the accessories it does. Then release a second figure to represent the second half of the film (no full complete deluxe set), and differentiate it from this release by including:

- Endor gear
- gritted teeth sculpt
- different hair piece
- full set of gloved hands

Then of course, this release has the full set of bare hands, the cloak, Jedi tunic, and the more relaxed sculpt with a different hair piece, all accessories that the second figure wouldn’t include. Would be enough to differentiate the two, but yet, also let people decide which outfit combination they prefer, or just get both because all the parts are interchangeable with one another.

There is, it's up on SS and BBTS for $240. I think getting the DX for $280 and selling the extra parts would end up costing you less if you are okay with spending the time selling parts, though.

Even if they just released the "ideal way to do it", it would be the same complaints, as you mentioned. To me, it's more of the fact that many of the complaints come across as if they think they deserve to have the extra DX parts given to them. If people didn't feel like the initial release included enough for how they wanted to display Luke, they should not have bought it. What I'm trying to say is that, complaining about a variant that adds choice and options after the first figure has been released for awhile (and also we've known about the endor version), is silly to me. I certainly understand the idea of "Gee, I wish it were all just one big DX released way back when". But that's not how HT does business anymore.

No one thought an accessory pack with another head would be $30, why are you saying that? I'd expect to pay $100-125 for a set like that. Isn't the Iron Man set die cast? It's comparing apples to oranges. No one is an idiot expecting something like that, or even just the Endor version with different head. Throwing all the extra **** together in one package is the reason people are pissed.

And not everyone wants to sit there and part their release out on eBay to get their money back. The vast majority of people here bought 1 figure, not 2. The problem is releasing all the same accessories and the head sculpt in one package.

HT has done redo's of old figures, but not within one frigging year of the old release. It's still available at many stores! HT ****ed all those shops now too. Why would I buy that one if for a little extra money I can get the next one with basically everything?

Lmao... so you are upset it's not released as numerous different figures or just already parted out for you?

Here's a bright idea for ya then - buy the parts you want loose on eBay, TA, etc.. If you're cool with spending $125 for a couple extra accessories, I'm sure you'll be able to get the poncho, cap, and probably the windswept hair for that. Your complaints make no sense. HT releases are always parted out both by sites like TA, MonkeyDepot, and of course eBay. You'd be complaining just as much if they released $100 accessory packs of a few parts each. And before this was announced, no one even knew we were going to get the extra deleted scene stuff - so what are you actually complaining about here? What is your ideal solution? Assuming you've already purchased the ROTJ figure, how could they have done this differently to please you in a way that you can't just do by buying the extra stuff you want loose?

I would really love to hear how it could have been done differently for you post-release of the original figure you already bought, because it sounds like you were going to complain no matter what version of Endor Luke they put out. You are literally complaining about having more options. It sounds like some of you would have liked it if Endor Luke was just the poncho and cap/teeth sculpt so you could say "yeah, good with my other one". But you're only complaining now because there are other parts in this that you want... which again, just buy them loose.

These complaints come across as, "**** you Hot Toys, now I have to spend more money if I want to have more extra options for how to display my Luke that I already bought and was happy with! I can buy them parted out by themselves but that's evil too!". So again, what would you have liked?

And actually, yes they have released variants within the same year. Sith Anakin is a big one for Star Wars that just happened. However, I'd say we got even less notice on that as we saw Endor Luke well before ROTJ Luke was actually shipping... so if people were upset about it then, they could have cancelled their order and said "I'll wait". And people aren't going to get the whole package with the new DX, either. They don't get the robe, normal forward-facing sculpt, base, extra hands, etc.

I get where you're coming from man, I just don't think you'll be able to change anyone's mind. Especially for those who feel kinda cheated. I agree with Dukefett in regards to putting this figure up when Jedi Luke is still available and hasn't been out all that long. I can see retailers being stuck with the Jedi Luke figure as people may be more inclined to get this new Endor Luke. Like others have said there just isn't a way to really do this and please everyone. Package everything with 1 figure and the price point might be too high for most people, make 2 figures and people might be stuck picking which one to get. HT could have done what they did with Bespin Luke and just released 2 figures in one box. I guess it doesn't really matter, anyway you slice it there's no way to please everyone. I got my Jedi Luke so I'm a happy camper, I'm just voicing my very first world complaint about wishing I could have gotten it all in one figure and think there are a few people who feel the same.

Like I said, I totally understand wishing it were an all-in-one DX like DX07. But that is assuming it would have been for the initial release. The part I think is funny and honestly stupid, is that people are suddenly getting up in arms and shouting betrayal when the pre-order for this goes up, even though they've already purchased their ROTJ figure and we knew an Endor Version was coming. The bottom line is they were going to complain no matter what, and they're honestly just complaining about having extra options at this point.

The complaint is 100% valid if both figures were currently up for Pre-Order. It's also 100% valid to go "man, I do wish it were all one release initially". It is stupid to buy the original figure and then go "I'm being betrayed by HT because the variant version (that I knew was coming before my other figure shipped) has some options that I feel like I should have gotten!". Well, now those people have those options to buy them parted out and they're still complaining.
