Re: Hot Toys Episode 3 Anakin

I personally wouldn't cite to authority as a way to make your argument, just as the way Aagion simply cited a book to make his argument. He may disagree with the opinions of your source, and you may disagree with the opinions of his source. You're going to have to lay out a convincing argument as to why you feel the way you do as opposed to essentially saying a renowned art critic says so, just as he has to do better than simply saying, read this book and then you'll agree with the author's opinions.

I understand what you are saying, however, it is not my intention to make anyone 'like' ROTS. I just get really annoyed with the strawman argument from prequel haters that 'everybody who is everybody thinks these films are trash'. It is not true, and that Youtube video is a low hanging fruit example that not everyone, even a famous art critic share that opinion.

I gotcha. But really, I mean who cares? They watched it, they had an opinion on it. You watched the same film and had a different opinion on it. Same goes for them, since they can't take the fact that some people had a different opinion than theirs on the same film they saw.

Like someone mentioned earlier, it ironically seems the ones who hate Star Wars the most, are the die hard Star Wars fans. The casual SW fan who merely finds the entire universe in general entertaining, I would say likely doesn't have an issue with them and just watch them for the sake of watching Episode I-III in SW. :lol

I never establishes my argument from a "everyone who isn't braindead agrees" point of view. I hope you understand that as I don't want to be perceived as a giant *******.

Re: Hot Toys Episode 3 Anakin

I'm a fan of the prequels to the extent I appreciate a lot about them but they're not very good. They have lots of good scenes, with lots of bad scenes. I don't like the regular Phantom Menace but I do like the Phantom Edit of the film. Attack of the Clones has some good moments but it's not good and I find it hard to watch it all the way through. Revenge of the Sith is the best film but even parts of it are hard to watch.

I actually have fan edits of Part II and III and those are very watchable.

My Wive's friends were on a business trip and we watched their three children and they wanted to go see the Phantom Menace when it was in 3D. I almost couldn't take it lol. The Phantom Edit is what I've watched for years and I had forgotten how bad Jar Jar was. I can't believe Lucas once said ''Jar Jar is the key to it, if he doesn't work, it doesn't''

The Clone Wars on the other hand is fantastic and it really made me appreciate prequel characters more. I've found people who didn't like Anakin in the prequels love him in the Clone Wars. It also helps that the Clone Wars series is canon to the films and it really fleshes out the characters better.

"Famous"? Also, finding sources that agrees with you isn't a good argument imo, as there are always people who believe in all kinds of things.

Re: Hot Toys Episode 3 Anakin

Structurally and from a screenwriters perspective it's pretty trash. But for people who ignore stuff like that I guess it's not that bad. But saying it's amazing is a bit absurd imo.

But you kind of are here. You're saying that it is trash, but good for people who like trash. :)

Mostly agree, edits make the film's a lot better but they far from save them since the screenplay is the same and so is the acting.

No, I said I never ESTABLISHED my argument that way. Also, I'm stating a legitimate reason I think people like it, not just saying dumb people like it.

Re: Hot Toys Episode 3 Anakin

I was in the custom Anakin 1/6 thread a few days ago trying to decide on making an Anakin. Glad I didn't waste money.

This figure is exactly what I've wanted and I really like Anakin Skywalker, bad *** in the Clone Wars!

This might become my favorite Hot Toys other than my Rogue One Vader.

Agreed. Again, I am not attempting to validate my taste in the film over yours... I am merely pointing out that there is not a universal consensus that the prequels suck - Far from it, actually.

Uh, who said otherwise.. No one in this thread has said that as far as I can see. Also sorry I misunderstood your last comment to me, I changed my answer.

Re: Hot Toys Episode 3 Anakin

Should they even do Anakin if he is only PT Jedi HT will come out with.

No Obi, Qui Gon, Dokku , Mace :dunno

Re: Hot Toys Episode 3 Anakin

Will I buy as many prequel figures as OT figures? No, but this will great on my shelf next to the eventual Obi-Wan & Qui-Gon.

I love the prequels and I'm over 40. Does that make me a bad person? :)

Re: Hot Toys Episode 3 Anakin

I would argue that Palpatine is the most pivotal character in the PT. Anakin just gets pushed around all three movies.

Since even George himself states the entire franchise is about the Skywalker family I would argue otherwise.

Nope it won't. But it will make you disliked by some and looked down by others.

I read it several places, but not just here... the contention that 'No one likes the prequels' or 'everyone knows those movies suck' is very common in my experiences, in fact, it is usually the central argument and validation I see from blogs and on threads from those who don't like the films. I'm sorry, I just think the whole debate is old hat. I just came here to drool at this figure which I am excited about and I get drawn into this nonsense.
