Re: Hot Toys Episode 3 Anakin

There will always be people with different opinions, but I think most people who understands the crafting of movies will agree the prequels are less than great.

I think a renowned art critic and 30 year professor in the arts understands motion picture crafting better than most.

Re: Hot Toys Episode 3 Anakin

Maybe not in your eyes but in the eyes of a lot of people I've seen/spoken to. But I'm convinced there's no convincing prequel haters at this stage.

There's no need to. If they didn't like it (like me), they didn't like it. I don't have an issue with that and I don't expect anyone to like them. It seems people who didn't like them have more an issue with those who did.

I personally didn't care for TPM and AotC except certain parts, but like you, I really liked RotS.

Re: Hot Toys Episode 3 Anakin

The OT had people like Harrison Ford who knew when the dialogue was bad and would say something. Mark Hamill often quotes Ford saying "you can write this s*** but you can't say it". PT perhaps suffered from more "yes" men. Also George didn't direct Empire or Jedi. Ewan McGregor was on Graham Norton even and eluded to George's bad directing when it came to the young Boba Fett actor in AOTC.

Anyway, this figure looks freaking awesome! and will definitely be the centerpiece to my SW collection

Spot on. George Lucas works best when he functions as an idea man, not in control. That worked perfectly for TCW.

ROTS is better than the others but it is very much dependant on the first two prequels, which were :(. Thats partially why it doesn't have much of an emotional impact.

I personally wouldn't cite to authority as a way to make your argument, just as the way Aagion simply cited a book to make his argument. He may disagree with the opinions of your source, and you may disagree with the opinions of his source. You're going to have to lay out a convincing argument as to why you feel the way you do as opposed to essentially saying a renowned art critic says so, just as he has to do better than simply saying, read this book and then you'll agree with the author's opinions.

To me, it wasn't. The PT to me was to simply serve as the background story to Anakin Skywalker and his path to becoming Darth Vader, as well as showing how cool the Jedi were. Nothing else. I personally got the gist of why Anakin turned to the Dark Side just on RotS alone and saw how cool the Jedi were in that film also.

I didn't need to know that he once won a pod race on Tattooine as a young child. :lol

Re: Hot Toys Episode 3 Anakin

I'm eager to see how HT handles the glove arm and the robotic arm and the sleeve of his tunic, while it was the best they could do with the Buck body they had at the time, Sideshow's effort was a bit of a let down, thankfully Dave at Rebelscum came up with the elastic band trick for folding the sleeve tight to the glove as if it were tucked in.

You misunderstood, the book was merely a recommended read, it wasn't my argument at all... If I merely used amother source for my argument... well that would be a weak argument.

I know Anakin becomes Vader, but why does this have the red saber if they have Vader figures

Re: Hot Toys Episode 3 Anakin

To be honest, I'm not much of a fan of the prequels but this has to be one of my favorite scenes in the entire film franchise. Everything just works:

Except for the not so great acting with a character that was terribly executed which makes the emotional impact the scene is supposed to have a lot less powerful.

It's supposed to be Dooku's saber, representative of the beginning of the film when he decapitated him using his own blue saber and Dooku's saber. Wouldn't be surprised if this is an EX accessory.

Weird accessory imo, especially without a Dooku figure.

Ah I forgot about that part :wave
