Re: Hot Toys - MMS477 / MMS478 - Star Wars Episode III: Obi-Wan Kenobi (Std & Dlx)

This hobby slipped away from me price wise. I almost have all my grail pieces with the rest on the way.Don't plan on buying anything from Solo, TLJ , or EP9. Not that I wouldn't like too , buy I can't. It'll good though! I'll have a nice OT and a few PT and RO figures. Once I get the following I'm out.

Anakin
Obi wan
Emperor and Throne
Jedi Luke

Re: Hot Toys - MMS477 / MMS478 - Star Wars Episode III: Obi-Wan Kenobi (Std & Dlx)

Likewise, with the recent acquisition of Sideshow Maul and some of the extra bits I was able to buy to add to him, I have Maul covered very well, not to say an HT version wouldn't get consideration, but right now, my Jedi Luke is a Hasbro so I eagerly await the HT upgrade, my Vader is a customized Disney Store figure, waiting for HT to tackle ROTJ Vader, I have no Emperor so can't wait for him again, and now Obi-Wan getting a significant upgrade.

Though if an Obi-Wan solo film comes and McGreggor reprises, I might entertain something from that as it may bridge the look of Episode 3 and 4, I'm all set with the fictional nomad look Sideshow has been using.

Judging by your Avatar, how can you pass on this :lol

I can imagine if the deluxe had a open mouth hs option so everybody can get the infamous phrases feeling

“ You were the Chosen One! “

“ Well then you are lost! “

“ It’s over Anakin ..I have the high ground! “

I’m sure that would’ve sold out in an hour :lol

Yeah but imagine the proportions and better articulation you can get with a Maul using a TT as opposed to a stiff SSC body . That’s why I’m waiting for a HT Maul

Re: Hot Toys - MMS477 / MMS478 - Star Wars Episode III: Obi-Wan Kenobi (Std & Dlx)

More so than anything else, it would have been cool if HT included Mustafar options for Anakin and Obi-Wan, with dirtied costumes to swap out and maybe an alrenate HS that's sweaty and dirty, making them posted in duel on a shelf look even cooler.

That's why Darth Vader and Obi-Wan are very important to me in a Star Wars collection, that relationship is the core of the saga for me, more so than Skywalker story, even though Luke is the focus of the OT, I see the Emperor and Luke as tools to guide Anakin's direction, but training and redeeming Anakin is ultimately between he and Obi-Wan and Luke was ultimately the instrument of the redemption while the Emperor was the instrument of his downfall.

Oh I didn't pass! lol, I'm all in with the deluxe. You KNOW that baby Leia will somehow be made by Hot Toys. Maybe with Padme?

Well I'm sure you can sell the baby Luke if you don't want him to take the price down to regular levels. I haven't got there yet but it's coming where I'll do that to bring the price down on releases. Still can't believe the $400+ Iron Man.

Yeah i think that’s going to be the plan if i can.

Photos I took earlier from Secret Base in HK

the droid head seems too big, out of proportion. especially in this shot

:goodpost:

To this day, I still believe Luke’s destiny was yes to become a Jedi but ultimately it was to bring Anakin back from the Darkside of the Force which he did in ROTJ. So I agree after PT Anakin’s story was much bigger and deeper than Luke’s . That’s one thing Lucas did right with the PT. After all it started with Luke.

I hope the upcoming Obi Wan film is great because I always wanted them to go deeper with his past and the CWs series was good at that but I want to see live action since in TPM he already was a jedi

Now what’s screwed up now is was Anakin really the Chosen One? Because now we have Rey and her mysterious story :slap

Re: Hot Toys - MMS477 / MMS478 - Star Wars Episode III: Obi-Wan Kenobi (Std & Dlx)

Timewalker Toys has the Deluxe up for $265 and regular for $227. I can't really understand how they're basically the only store that undercuts the prices at all. They were the only US one to do a deal for 2 Royal Guards too.

$9 isn’t that undercutting IMO from SRP , plus tax it would be about the same as everyone else..you give Timewalker too much credit

Who pays tax? It's why I never buy from SS unless I have to. $9 is $9.

And yes I will give credit to the one retailer offering a discount on figures that cost hundreds of dollars.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS477 / MMS478 - Star Wars Episode III: Obi-Wan Kenobi (Std & Dlx)

I'm shocked that SSC has never made a PF of her. Just do that exact outfit and that exact pose.

Many things SSC does puzzle me. Why don't they make Sixth Scale figures of characters HT will never do like Marvel's Doctor Doom, The Thing, Taskmaster, Star Wars' Ashoka Tano, Kanan Jarrus, Hera Syndulla, Amanaman, Darth Revan, Darh Talon, McQuarrie Vader, etc...? Why do they think their reinterpretations of characters is what fans want over more accurate representations such as what they did to kill the GI Joe line in the past or now in their Marvel and DC Comics Sixth Scale lines? Why Can't SSC get their paint apps right after all these years when even bootleg companies are doing it better? Why doesn't SSC rerelease much in demand figures like Clone Commanders Wolffe, Cody, & Rex but instead rerelease not in demand figures like the Biker Scout and Jabba?
So many questions, and SSC has stopped answering them....

Doesn’t SSC need to get rights for doing a character PF, it depends on the actor or actress right :dunno

Sideshow has the Star Wars license and Portman doesn't have any say so on officially licensed SW merchandise. The only thing stopping Sideshow is Sideshow.

I think all SW actors since the Tonnika Sisters signed away their likeness rights as a required stipulation in taking the parts. So they shouldn't need Portman's approval. Arena Padme seems like such a no-brainer since she's an A-list prequel character *and* provides the coveted T&A aspect that SSC is normally so quick to exploit.

That's at the top of mine. :naughty
:exactly: A HT version will be the ultimate upgrade to my old Star Wars Unleashed version (not exactly a realistic portrayal lol) and the Figuarts.
