Re: Hot Toys -MMS- Episode II AOTC Count Dooku Collectible Figure
As exciting as this release is, we don't need three threads to discuss it
It looks great. If the exquisite portrait translates as well as Trakin did into the production figure, it should look real good. Tarkin "softened up" a bit in production, but still looks good. Hoping for the same here.
The outfit looks very well done, although one little nag for me in the figure gallery is the lack of futzing on the front of his tunic in many of the shots - it's a bit bunched up around the torso and near the waist in some shots. Part of the Count's visual appeal is how crisp and elegant his appearance is, even while dueling. It's a tiny thing - but it caught my eye.
They really scrambled for relevant accessories here - those holo-figures are a bit hokey - the only one with onscreen relevance is the DS schematic. A themematic stand would have been welcome here(hanger floor, rocky wall), especially as we consider the ever-increasing price point -$243 for what almost constitutes a basic figure. It's the way it is now, I guess.
It will be cool to have both of the Hammer stars in their iconic SW roles on display together - Cushing and Lee together. Very classy indeed.
Of the prequel character, only Padme (Arena), Mace & Qui-Gon are must-haves for me if HT does them. The AOTC Anakin and Kenobi would be good - it just depends on how deep HT goes with the prequel offerings.
It will be great to see Dooku on display on the convention circut later this year -looking forward to the pics...
