Last time I check this was still the iron man thread for the MOVIE Masterpiece Series by Hot Toys, no?

If Ironman was pink in the films and hot toys made him the classic red and yellow would you be complaining?

Calm down would you .. yes i am aware the new color is even less accurate to the film then the first but I was merely pointing out one of the good points the paintjob has to offer ..even if it is irrelevant to the film.

IMO it was a great figure when it first came out and although most of us now agree the darker burgundy or cherry red color of the V1 may be more accurate to the film then the battle damage version ..i still stand by what i said although yes inferior may be to harsh a way to put it ...but as in terms of design and the overall finish the battle damage version wins hands down ..its everything the first figure should have been ...

..but that said the overall figure mold is way off ..no chance tony would fit in that ..this will look weird next to mech test ..with the mech test leg armor probably allot thicker the the mark 3s.

care to shed some lights on that mate?

By all means, my friend. The BD figure just has more to offer. From the spring-out hip flairs, shoulder guns, improved articulation, final battle base, metal grate back flaps, alternate chest armors, and both masks. The paintwork is superior, I feel, even if slighty off-color to what was onscreen. I do understand your issue with that, by the way.

Just felt like I got more bang for my buck with this guy over the original Mark III release, which I still own and love. It's just aside from the bare RDJ head, there's nothing the second release didn't improve on for me.

not really.

the original mark 3 looks like these:

while the BD although nice and glossy, looks a bit toyish, in proportions IMO.

I had the v1 in the display right now, and the BD stored inside the box.

Hollywood Movie Costumes...

I never quite rememberd the suit in the movie to be so off and have to go back to the movit but in these snapshots it looks pretty red (even most posters show a red suit) so not sure which is and is not accurate in color now but certainly the glossyness of the actual suit don't make it look toyish??

..And lets not forget about the horrible fading abdomen the fist figure had ..you always here people complaining about batmans leaky abb ..but that problem was almost as worse and it threw off the whole look of the figure imo.

I wont complain actually, as long as its movie accurate :monkey1:monkey3

I agree that it comes with more stuff, but just like the light features on these, I dont really use all those stuff when displaying him. I prefer to pose this guy standing, looking all tough and mean. Looks more menacing that way. But then again, thats just me.

the second photo was taken by some casual photographer, so its not really accurate.

Its not just the glossyness, geil. I think its mainly to do with the proportions. Its just hard to swallow that tony could actually fit in that armor. Especially those calfs... Im gonna be displaying my mech test next to the mark 1.:monkey1

yeah, I know bout that one. Thats what happened to my old mark 3, before I sold it off.

I bought a new one, and I placed it inside an acrylic case. Still looks shiny and glossy, been 2 months already. Heres to hoping that it wont dry out and starts to look pink

Ya im in the same boat as u there ..i had planed on displaying mech test and M1 on either side of bdm3 on a shelf in my detolf ..and that would be my ironman 1 line complete ..but i really don't like the idea of seeing both mech tests and the m3s calfs next to each other ..it would just look to weird ..its those little things that really bug me:gah:

same here, and heres a visual, at least you get a rough idea of how those calfs would look next to one another... just doesnt make sense how the mech test and mark 3's calf differentiate, when its technically the same mold and proportion, in the movie :slap

Really need to clean up my display for the IM family, MK II still sitting in the box :banghead

I do agree that the proportions are not quite accurate and realistic but to me the V1's colored plastic simply did not look like a paint job and to me the paint finish has a bigger impact.

In this picture which is mostly daylight the color still looks more red than the weired photoshopped promoshot which is just way off in my POV and also reason why I feel the V1 color is off as well. Again referring to any of the posters of the first movie the suit is hot rod red and really what I believe they were going for even in Tony's own words.
In my eyes at least IMBD is a better approximation and I am just eager to slap on that Tony Mech Suit head on this one and do the final battle scene

I've watched the movie a number of times and reviewed the Mark III scenes a lot when I was testing out my sound system. The suit is quite red and not as dark as the same shot everyone keeps grabbing.

If anything the paint should be something in between the BD and the V1. Sideshow and Legacy's Mark III maquette should be the most accurate. It would be pretty shameful if Legacy got the color wrong on the suit they designed. Then again, it's Sideshow who is painting it.

I do have to laugh a bit when people keep bringing up the same old maroon publicity stills. Those were released quite early and if you watch the movie it's with the lighting they used in the movie it's a lot more red and shiny. I'm guessing there was quite a bit of correction/CGI to get it to where the movie is too. Still, I have to say I'd be happy with either version of the Mark III. I think they both look great (except that fading plastic bit) but I am glad I ended up with the BD.

Is that apple real??
so I guess get HT to release the Tony and someone can start a Show your Iron Men thread? and then let it extend into 1&2 :D

Well I was on the fence about ordering the BD since I have the V1. Received the BD today and all I can say is WOW ! The colour to me is more accurate on the BD than the faded burgandy on the V1.

I really want a MK1`but the prices are so0o high now, I am almost tempted to grab the Mech Test tony. But either way... 2 more days until I get mine!
