What type of light do you use? You do know most standard spotlights emit heat and UV both big contributers to fading colors. Normal glass won't filter UV either. So lighting and position if the stand can contribute or prevent such deterioration. I think alsmot all modern acrylic sheets has UV coating applied as otherwise the acrylic itself tends to discolor as well. Also another reason to go to LEDs or fibre optic lighting

I don't use any special lighting and since I don't have a glass cabinet yet I keep my figures inside a closed wooden cabinet where sunlight or any artificial light can't reach.

Fading or not, I remember noticing instantly the difference in color shade between the abdomen and rest of the body even the first time I picked up my Mark III.

It didn't bother me at first, and under certain lighting conditions it's mostly imperceptible, but it's part of the reason I don't own the figure anymore.

So, yes, I really do hope the Battle Damaged Mark III has a better paint job than the non-damaged original Mark III (kinda ironic).

oh so it may not have deteriorated afterall and was like that right from the start?
Well the IM BD is painted so it should be easier to be consistant.

Well, mine wasn't as apparent as it looks on Toyrewind's figure. It could be that his faded and exacerbated the problem.

At first I thought the IM lineup would be the only thing I wanted from HT but now I want the Avatar lineup as well. Saw you over there too plasmid :D

No. The color red was consistent when I first took it out of the box. I think it has got something to do with the material HT used. I've seen this type of fading from the Hasbro 12" Iron Man Movie (the one on the right) too.

Here's the original color when I got it. June 2009 to be exact.

Mines like that aswell. Its kind of annoying despite not being horrendously noticeable right now because what if one day it is?? What can be done then? I'm not sure that buying the next version is an acceptable answer. To keep these things articulated they need certain parts to be made of different types of plastic that surely are destined to age differently to eachother.

Can someone show in detail how the elbow joint design is different this time round with this new bd figure ..its kinda hard 2 tell from the preview pictures.

Its not shipped yet so all we have now are the preview pictures.

dude i know its not out yet ..but people have mentioned it b4 ..i just want someone 2 elaborate on it a bit if they can ..i can see a difference myself but cant tell if its better and why ..probably had 2 be changed due 2 the expandable wrist gauntlets design id imagine even with that being on just the one arm as far as i know.

Your sentiments match mine to the letter. Sold mine for the same reasons. Hope the color matching is better on the BD, and a metallic red paint is used. MK III ver 1 (that'll confuse!) just looked too "plasticky" in the red areas.

Man I feel like ... correction.... I am an addict just moving from one fix to anohter and now it's time to hunt doen this magnificant figure :D
CNY is almost here but is HT going to hold out on us until this weekend? How do locals in HK find out about when to pick up their pre orders, do they get a phone call the day of or do they get some sort of a advanced notice?

That lack of a head sculpt reveal is really strange. I can only remember thus happening with the Kane figure and we know how that turned out...

I predict a 'backstage' pic of the Stark head from HT moments before the figure releases.

I'm not worried. If the mech test Tony sculpt is anything to go by, I'm sure this one will turn out fine.
