The boots in ANH were indeed painted white.

Am sure HT will do a variant of him at some point. Maybe with darker pants too.

not based on the photo above. (if those are screen used) they were just white. those are most def not black boots painted white.

The photo above is of some reproduction boots. The originals were jodhpur boots painted white. I'm not saying in the Star Wars universe each trooper had to paint his boots. I'm saying that for the movie, they didn't buy white boots for the costumes.

Those are my repro boots from TKBoots. They are not screen used. Also in the pic is my ANOVOS helmet and HFx hyperfirm E-11.

The helmet has a real McQuarrie look to it. If the movie is any good I could see picking one of these up.

The issue with the new droid is it can sprint - no OT droid could even come close to that (3PO's hurried shuffle was it for humanoid droids,) and the OT droids come after the RO one, so it doesn't make a whole of logical sense.

You wonder if that sprint-type technology was available in the years before ANH, why do we not see it anywhere in all those years after ANH as seen in OT?

In my head, I like to think the in-universe explanation would be that droids would be terrifying to average people if they could move faster than they do. Especially after the Clone Wars and the trauma felt from droids that ran and scuttered and crawled and climbed.

Some people (seen in Wuher and others) treated droids with suspicion or disdain or at best as appliances. So a fast moving droid may only be desirable in a military application.

Just imagine if C-3PO could run. He would be chasing after you all day talking nonstop about protocol and etiquette. He wouldn't tire. He wouldn't stop. It'd be like the Terminator meets Downton Abbey.

These look amazing! I'll be preordering one in a couple weeks.

I don't put much stock in the name. As far as I'm concerned these are just version 1.0 scout troopers.

I'm guessing that the design is very old judging by the extreme weathering, yellowed white paint, and all the color, I would place this design shortly after the clone wars, with scout trooper armor being the replacement design.
