These look amazing! I'll be preordering one in a couple weeks.

I don't put much stock in the name. As far as I'm concerned these are just version 1.0 scout troopers.

I'm guessing that the design is very old judging by the extreme weathering, yellowed white paint, and all the color, I would place this design shortly after the clone wars, with scout trooper armor being the replacement design.

Since they operate in tropical/jungle environments, that would explain the weathering; I imagine that the jungle is hell on equipment. The reduced armour would aid mobility in a muddy environment, too.

As someone's already pointed out, there was a scout of some kind in the PT and CW -- some of them in full camo.

Yeah, there were a few trooper/scout variations in ROTS that looked like this guy (the goggles on the scout below sometimes looked darker than that CGI greenish shown) There was also the ATRT pilot that was similar, and had some off-white/tan parts like this guy.

This one is definitely very PT looking/inspired.

Yeah, but offhand, it looks like they throw it back to OT era via harder, more industrial-feeling lines and angles.

PT design seems to me a combination of blended curves and that CG-model, "future-faceted, techno" look that has dated so badly.

I'm not 100% sure, but it feels like the lines used in the OT came from real-world technology which *at the time* didn't iterate as quickly, so was stuck in our collective consciousness in a way that modern industrial design isn't, necessarily.

For the moment, real-world things like phones and autos have their forms dictated by things like ergonomics and aerodynamics to create these platonic shapes that sort of fade into the background noise, with incremental changes going by in an accelerated blur that our splintered attention spans dispose of, much the way we do most modern media.

If you look at things being developed right now, like Project Soli by Google: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0QNiZfSsPc0

...the forms become even more abstracted. One more reason to think something like the OT will never happen again. The new world isn't evenly distributed (to paraphrase William Gibson) but the old world ain't coming back.

I work in design. ;)

Thanks for the fascinating post and video. I've been waiting for something like that to integrate into my fett armor haha.

I work in digital design / advertising *high 5* but I use my creative problem solving for evil lol. I create rich media interactive ads for mobile devices.

You're not evil, you're just trying to make your way in the galaxy. ;)

I've worn a lot of design hats, most recently working on physical product design (fine jewellery) via high-tech (3D models and printing are early stages of my manufacturing process).

I've been updating and adding skills to transition into a mix of User Experience design and front end web development. Not sure where I'll land yet but tech is an exciting landscape.

That sounds awesome! Yeah agreed, exciting times to live in for design, ad tech is treating me pretty good, a lot of start ups so some decent money getting thrown around, since mobile advertisement really hasn't been around long, there is a lot of innovating and first to market opportunities.

So where is the Boba Fett superbowl ring??? I need one that says JCFETT lol

Prices depend on complexity of design, difficulty in finishing, and materials chosen. If you're serious or even just curious, PM me for info. But it's a busy week so I won't be getting back to you right away.

pretty sure we saw scout troopers in rots on kashyyyk

True, I try to forget the prequels lol. Those Troopers on Kashyyyk were fighting on the shore, and in the jungle though.

So I guess these "Shoretroopers" would be Scouts 2.0.

Both Shoretroopers and Scouts share some design characteristics:

• They both have a sort of armored visor over their eyes.

• They Share a similar external respirator design aesthetic.

• Shoretroopers have a med. sized bag that sits just below the belt to one side, Scout troopers have two bags that sit above the belt in the same position on either side.

• Both their uniforms are fabric, from the waist down.

I'm not trying to prove anything or defend an argument. This is just what I make believe when I'm playing with my toys. [emoji847]

While the design/look of this trooper is quite reminiscent of the ROTS troopers, I think it's the brightly painted armor parts that convey PT to me more than anything. There's nothing like that in the OT.

Yeah, that and the aged look is what made me immediately think this is an old design, from a few years after the Clone Wars.

I still don't think it looks like a natural progression. Kashyyyk trooper is pretty close to rotj scout. Why would they have this in the middle that's very different. Just my opinion. I'm classing this as a new trooper

Same. Really like both but the Hovertank Driver feels more cohesive and, as you said, a bit more Star Warsy. Something in the combination of angles and curves. And the classic white.

No wonder troopers sell so well. Easy to reproduce, no face expressions....and look super cool. I think i'll get both if the movie is awesome.

Please be awesome, please be awesome :pray::pray:
