It looks like a different sculpt to me...

The edges of the helmet look more rounded on the R1 helmet, the neck opening also looks a lot bigger, and the slant of the chin towards the neck is slimmer (ANH has a fat jowl). The crown of the helmet also looks different, or rather, where it flares out looks different, there seems to be an angle on the ANH helmet, whereas on the R1 helmet it looks like a straight line.
The face mask does look to be the same though, just different paint apps.

Spencer was the guy that stole Starlords Walkman in Guardians of the galaxy that will give you an idea of his size

Got to trust the guy with it in hand though. Softer or rounded can be the result of molding/casting process, not a new sculpt. And please account for camera angle at this scale. Everything on the right side of his pictures looks bigger, even the box in the same shot.

I actually thought the neck was different until I saw his side by sides pics.

Spencer is a beast of a man and a really nice bloke. He is very tall and I saw him pick up little Pixie leknott (actress/ dancer) at a con like she was a doll. Pleased to have met both of the main Vader actors in the flesh

I still have to wait for an HT ESB/ROTJ Vader?

I just want an OT vader, didn't grab the ANH because of gloves, not too caring about the other inparticulars, but I hated the glove system.

So now the R1 vader has a glued robe, T rex hands so... still gotta wait?

The verdict is an awesome figure to own. Will this version of Vader leave an everlasting impression..that depends on his screentime.. Worst case scenario is I don't want them to pull another Phasma again even if it is Vader

It's not Prowse's Vader

So I guess it's anyone's call if the figure is worth it.

Wow, the height difference is a little jarring. I wonder if the eventual ESB Vader will be closer to R1's height or ANH's. Overall this figure looks pretty good, easy pick up for someone who just wants a Vader and isn't going to obsess about the inaccuracies.
