HT 1st attempt. Not going by the actual movie suit. [emoji15]

I think it looks better than ANH. A bit more tidier and clean looking than HT 1st attempt.

Makes sense, being that ANH Vader wasn't tidy and clean. As far as Vader parts just in general regardless of film, the gloves look to be the only significant improvement just based on pictures.

I ask because it actually kind of looked silver in AB's review, but all pictures I've seen before that, it looks black. Can anyone who has this figure confirm the color of it?

If it's silver, the belt, belt boxes and gloves would look great on ANH Vader.

Its always looked dark to me, even in the video review that said it felt like cheap paper. The weathered boxes are nice though... not sure its worth the $35+ price tag to get them both.

Yeah, if the dial on the belt turns out to be black, then the boxes are likely a no go. Don't think you'll find places parting out just the boxes without the belt. And like you said, a most likely roughly $50 belt and box accessory pack just to snare the boxes I don't think would be worth it.

Unfortunate too because if I did get any parts off this figure for ANH Vader, I'd just want those boxes. The gloves aren't visible on my ANH Vader in the pose I have him in anyway, so I doubt I'd spend extra money to have those when they aren't going to be seen.

The belt disc is silver (different silver to buckle ) When the light hits just right it looks black.

And therein lies the difference in taste, I suspect. As my definitive Vader is ANH Vader, I need him to be less 'tidy' and less 'clean looking'. To some, the pop of a shiny Vader is a definitive element of the character, and to be fair that's how he's appeared onscreen in the majority of the saga. But my Vader is the ANH 1970s Vader, whose quirks reflect the budget and style of Star Wars to the exclusion of what came after. The majestic, shadowy wraith of The Empire Strikes Back is beautiful, but my personal Vader is the somewhat unwieldy bobble-head who was equally at home choking rebel commanders onscreen as he was prowling dance floors offscreen in 1977/1978 - amidst flares, fringed leather jackets and a triple play of 'Macho Man', 'You Make Me Feel Like Dancing' and 'Night Fever'.

Yes I think you may be right. I'm in the other camp though. When I see the polished version I think "Wow" so awesome ! But each to their own.

Man I've got a dilemma ! Need help to decide....

I have tickets booked to Rogue One IMAX on the weekend, but have the chance to see it on Wednesday in small local cinema....

I think I'll just have to push myself to wait for the IMAX experience first, otherwise I'll just be disappointed.

See it on Wednesday! You'll have the opportunity to anticipate cool scenes that will jump out at the IMAX showing on the weekend. Always go early when you can...always :)

Yeah that's another big plus to me. I can put this Vader up on the shelf and still have it look awesome until I eventually get around to modding it (if I actually decide to). But with the ANH I'll have to start modding the thing the second I pull it out of the box, if I want it to look halfway decent and respectable.

For me I don't have the patience and/or skill really to modify anything significantly. So I'm leaning towards the R1 figure just to have a Vader on the shelves that I don't have to do anything to. I still don't have a Vader so it's time to remedy that. Plus once ESB comes out I'm sure that will be the OT one I want. This is a good point that it can be display right out of the box.

Do you guys think hot toys will make a esb or rotj vader down the road? I would rather have a rotj vader, but this ro version is tempting.

I would bet money on it. I haven't bought a Vader because I know ESB will be made eventually.

Refer to Iron Man for the Hot Toys business model. ;)

After ROTJ is released I'm sure we'll see diecast versions of Vader and go back through the mix again :lol
