Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

Regarding cost, they charge what people will pay. I'm sure that's the biggest difference. This is a "limited exclusive!!" so they charge more. But, there is also probably a smaller run of these than of other releases (by how much? Who can say?) which may affect a production cost per unit.

One of last year's "Limited Exclusives"... https://www.sideshowtoy.com/?page_id=4489&sku=901321

that's what i call limited :lol

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

It's still just a "TOY FAIRS Ex" so no need to worry about limitation and exclusiveness. Only about the price.

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

On the comments section of this figures photo album on the SS FB page, SS has said that this is scheduled to be released at the end of July. If that's true, it would have to be on the boat and on it's way now right?

They probably have em already...just waiting until post SDCC to ship.

don't think so since all the other SDCC EX figures are/will be in-stock and ready ship on their respective dates

most here have stated that they don't think that this will be released int her 2-3 week time frame that SS has given so my post was just meant as a "maybe it actually is coming in 2-3 weeks"

I pre-ordered, but more as a placeholder until I decide for sure. I would like it just for the head and shield as an alternate display for my Avengers Cap, but do I like that stuff enough to pay $200? Not so sure :panic:

Exactly :lol That Batman took forever to sell out, as well, and it was an incredibly popular/highly desired piece.

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

Should i not be?, i couldn't set foot in a thread i liked because of the outragous pricing issue taking over, this is even more outragous, but the thread isn't being ruined for fans :dunno

But why would you do the same thing in this thread that pissed you off any other thread?

Especially since you said you like this fi:dunnogure.

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

The exclusives are always higher priced. No way is this a $220 figure when the original FA Cap was $170.

No kidding! Look at what the Avengers Mark 6 is selling for -- and it lacks the battle damage options of the IM2 version.:cuckoo:
Buyers who are late to the party always seem to distort prices upward in their willingness to pay anything to possess.

Scarecrow was over $200 and came with less than this.

Yes, which is why that figure was a rip-off as well. Another dude in a suit (yawn). HT knows that Nolanfreaks can't resist. I'm surprised they haven't released an Alfred convention exclusive: TrueType, tux and tails, Caine headsculpt, and martini glass & tray for $240.

Completists are compelled by their compulsion. Manufacturers know this, and exploit their OCD every time.

HT is lame for not making this a USO hybrid, though. At this price point, it should be. And he should be much more dirty and weathered. A lost opportunity . . . :monkey2

Just because they're shipping their products don't mean that they will be shipping all products at the same time. Could be other logistics involved.

In other words, I agree with your assessment but I would venture to guess this thing is already in the warehouse.

SSCs is a pretty small company. I imagine it's a nightmare getting all this product shipped out.

I have a trading group my brother and I pick up SDCC ex's for and just our little small group is a bear to wrestle with boxing all that stuff up for shipment. Everyone's order is different and requires a little different approach.

This is Chris Evans.......................................................This is his stunt double, some Italian guy by the looks of things.

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

This is the best Capt fig yet.

I ordered for the place holder.. I don't have any of the other two figs, but I'm thinking of this and the Advengers one.

Looks to me like the same guy with a different expression in different lighting from a different angle.

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

Also, are most Italians guys with dirty blonde hair, blue/green eyes, and fair skin? I'm not from Europe, so it is possible that my understanding of such things is informed by unfair stereotypes.

It's odd how some angles don't look like Evans but others do. Weird. I'm bummed though. I was hoping it wouldn't be released for a while cause funds are low right now. But if I wait and just buy the head later I may not be able to afford that either. Decisions decisions.

Is it just me or does the USO one look more like Evans by comparison?

Also I question how limited a figure is. I remember with the Guardian Pred that was pretty limited in comparisson with the Shadow Pred. Batman took forever to sell out and I question this one.

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

I really like the figure, but the price makes it an easy decision for me. With shipping it will be over $250 + tax and duty to get to Canada, so I would end up paying like $280 for it if I ordered. No picking up at Comic Con killed this for me... :(

regarding the ever raising price of this 1/6 scale hobby of ours - as long as we are still willing to buy them, they will keep pushing the limit until our wallet burst and we have to stop. Personally, I think I am getting there. Too many new versions of the same character, or overpriced items, and I gonna hold back and start pondering what to get and what to wait. I used to buy every release when they were $100 - $150 each. Now they are mostly $250 for me (with shipping and taxes) so I have to be selective. Approaching 3 bills, then I really need to stop. Sadly , it is getting to a point that I am seeing them as thousand dollar bills on my shelves than a toy.... that signals me I should reconsider how I am investing in my hobby......
