Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

Is it just me or does the USO one look more like Evans by comparison?

Also I question how limited a figure is. I remember with the Guardian Pred that was pretty limited in comparisson with the Shadow Pred. Batman took forever to sell out and I question this one.

while i do agree that it took a while for it sell out, I think that some of that has to do with some of the crazies who HAD to have it NOW and shelled out the $500+ on eBay for it. there seemed to be quite a few doing that at the time

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

People have nothing to blame really but themselves IMO. HTs prices are not that outrageous compared to the market. I think a lot of time its people just fighting with themselves if they should pull the trigger to spend $150-$200-$300+ on a toy.

This hits the nail on the head for me. I love the hobby and can afford it, but have a hard time coming to grips with some of these recent prices. In the end these are toys that are going to sit on a shelf.

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

It's odd how some angles don't look like Evans but others do. Weird. I'm bummed though. I was hoping it wouldn't be released for a while cause funds are low right now. But if I wait and just buy the head later I may not be able to afford that either. Decisions decisions.

If you buy it, do it for the essence, not for the likeness. Otherwise you are f-u-c-k-e-d.

On another thought, I'm just wondering why in the hell this is shipping 2-3 weeks after ordering...?

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

Also, look at what people pay on eBay. If people want to complain, they should be more upset at eBay prices than HTs. Last years exclusive Batman Begins was going for $600+ on eBay before Sideshow had them for Pre-Order, and plenty were being sold for $600+.

Also custom pieces are usually cost far more than anything HTs does.

The lesser of two evils is still evil.

The price of these figures has jumped $60 in a matter of a few months.

There is no justification for this other than the fact that they know we will still pay it. How can you not be mad of a company blatently taking advantage of it's customers?
Are you really perfectly happy handing over an extra $60 that you shouldn't have to every time you buy a figure?

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

I really like the figure, but the price makes it an easy decision for me. With shipping it will be over $250 + tax and duty to get to Canada, so I would end up paying like $280 for it if I ordered. No picking up at Comic Con killed this for me... :(

regarding the ever raising price of this 1/6 scale hobby of ours - as long as we are still willing to buy them, they will keep pushing the limit until our wallet burst and we have to stop. Personally, I think I am getting there. Too many new versions of the same character, or overpriced items, and I gonna hold back and start pondering what to get and what to wait. I used to buy every release when they were $100 - $150 each. Now they are mostly $250 for me (with shipping and taxes) so I have to be selective. Approaching 3 bills, then I really need to stop. Sadly , it is getting to a point that I am seeing them as thousand dollar bills on my shelves than a toy.... that signals me I should reconsider how I am investing in my hobby......

Same boat :( this will probably be my last purchase near the release window. Either HT needs to start pricing things more reasonably or make them actual limited quantities with quality to match.

Yeah. And buying a head that will cost $90.00 for a figure that I like already is kids ludicrous. Didn't want the figure at all. Just the head. So just wait for the 2.0 TFA release with helmet less head?

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

I think the price hike sucks but I skip out on a lot of figures because of it. So I am speaking with my wallet so to speak. For instance, this is the first HT figure I ordered this year. :lol

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

I like it, but other than the head, it really looks like something you could kitbash with much cheaper parts. :p

I pre-ordered Joker v2 as I wanted the exclusive but I haven't pre-ordered since 89 Batman and Joker last August.

A little patience all these show up below retail eventually. Why waste money because you can :cuckoo:

My what an intelligent critique. "ZERO Evans"...you are so right: I look at that sculpt and see an elderly, African-American woman not a person even 1% resembling Chris Evans.

Looks like Arnie's jaw if you put your hand over the nose & up :)

But why would you do the same thing in this thread that pissed you off any other thread?

Especially since you said you like this fi:dunnogure.

I'm not trying, just stating that it wasn't happening. For it to happen to one thread but not the other is hardly fair and also hypocritical of the posters in the matter at hand

I am on a mobile device, so I cannot post it, but someone already showed on the preview thread how good the likeness is side-by-side with the helmet on.

Other than perfect sculpts, every sculpt will look off from some angle. I see Evans clearly in every other picture. It is just the (unfortunately chosen) below-the-horizon shot that looks off, partly because the neck looks huge.
