Why would they do that though? You want to make your figure look best.

It wouldn't matter how they take the photos. People wil always find a reason to complain. So why not make it look best. People also see things very different. I saw it as it looks in other light. Just different shades of black.

Does any company on the planet try to sell a product like that?

HT can take the photos however they want. Professional, non professional. I don't care. All I'm asking is that they represent the actual colors which they clearly did not with this figure. I know I'm not the only one that was surprised to see the figure was all black.

Yea, and the people who don't like are the ones that didn't order.

lol, well I ordered it based on the pics on SSC. Then I saw some pics from a show or something with a crappy camera and really didn't like it... debated cancelling.

Just saw the pics from a couple pages ago and glad I didn't :)

I watched Iron Man 3 a few days ago. When Tony met the kid, and it was the kid's idea and suggestion to make the stealth suit. So my question is, Tony wears Mk42 at that point of the story. Isn't the stealth mode should base on MK42 instead of Mk7?

Yea, never go by crappy cell phone cameras or even crappy digital cameras. The lighting at those shows always makes if difficult to capture the awesomeness of the figure.

I respect your opinion Joe but we can agree to disagree b/c I don't see how the figure was misrepresented Joe. My reason for stating this is that the paint application you see in the ad is the exact same as you see on display at the shows, and it will be the exact same as you will see on your shelf. This is what has made Hot Toys the leader in 1:6 over the last few years -> what you see in prototypes is typically what you get in production. An example of a collectible being misrepresented imo would be something that looks stellar in prototype and looks drastically different in the production phase.

There isnt supposed to be a basis for this figure.... its just an excuse for Hot Toys to squeeze money from you :rotfl

Anyone's got a conversion recently here?

Not necessarily.

While I do agree that I wish that the figure shoulda been with a more bluish tint, I can settle down with black too. That being said, I need HT to deliver on the gloss finish to the T.
No cheap shots there :lecture

So... I feel like this.
Do I like it.... Yes....
Do I like it as much as HT BS ultra cool blueish photos...... No, not anywhere near as much.
I would have bought because I like the dark stealth theme. But I'm really really ticked because the toy isn't even close in hues from the pics.
The brownish dark tones shown in these recent pics look nice ... But I was so sold on the cooler color temperature with the blue and purple tones in the 1st shown pics.

Probably the most difference from the real actual item vs prototype pics I've ever seen. And what makes it a shame is the toy wasn't redesigned or changed.. It was just playing with photography.
Glad I bought it... But not in love with it as I was. Those 1st shots and this piece was instantly in my number 1 slot. Now, just another nice suit.

:horse

Sorry but the suit is black...I guess there is nothing else to say but man 490 posts later and still talking about it...

Definitely agree, for the price they're asking there should be zero shortcuts. :goodpost:

I personally never noticed the bluish tint, what sold me is the mix of gloss, matte, and a light goldish metallic on the face mask and a few other spots. Initially when I seen actual stills of the pic I was a little bit disappointed in the figure mainly because it just seemed all black. But then when Anthony uploaded his vid and I was able to see the subtle shade differences and I was back on board... but never had thoughts of canceling. For those of you getting mad at HT for lying or misleading is ridiculous. Any photo shoot whether its figures, models, or cars there going to make the best pic possible, there going to adjust lighting and whatever post production adjustments that they can. Some of you make it seem like there intent was to deceive the masses and make it seem like something that its not, which i think they just made the best shot they could, with what they had. I also read the remarks that it has to be lit up with a bright light source which could be true but it could also be that its enclosed in a all glass enclosure in a very lit up room. Im sure in my besta regular led lights will bring it close to what it looks like in the promo. Buuut anywhooos back to the future i go!:wink1:

On a different note, but still regarding paint....
I'm going one extra step with this figure. Since it includes the open shoulder pods, I went to ebay and bought some loose open
thigh armor pods from the standard Mark VII. I'll try and get a good paint on them so the figure will have the extra armament.

Not a bad idea. I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Where can I order one? EBay prices are ridiculous.
Thanks
Carl

At the conventions HT will be hosting (which is like winning a lottery to buy one) or put yourself on SS waitlist and hope it converts.
Or...ebay which is doubled the price
