I see the difference, but BARELY as it's really minute at best (sheesh and I thought SW fans were picky! :p). Let's be honest man, you're splitting hairs. As someone already stated in this thread, I seriously doubt it'll matter once you have the actual figure in hand. With that said, I'm glad they revised the pant portion of the suit by tightening up the suit and fixing the inconsistent paints. That's what greenlighted my purchase.

Again, it's not that significant a difference guys...

As a matter of fact, not only did you lose a bit of Bale by cutting down the chin, but I think the changes make the head look even smaller and would leave the figure to suffer from peaheadedness, like DC Direct's 13" version, and leaves ol' Bats looking like he had a run-in with the voodoo priest from beetlejuice.

the closest accurate cowl sculpt is the Medicom version.

but who cares? it looks enough like the film, Batman was always moving in the flick, and I doubt anyone's gonna care that "OMG his eyes are 3.4% too low and the brows aren't mean enough and wtf his chin isn't big enough omgwtfbbq."

they're TOYS, and yes you can bring up the old, "BUT OMG I'M PAYING SO MUCH MONEY" schtick, but that wore out it's charm a long time ago.

Sorry, but they really really don't. I'm not saying I don't like HT's final version but that photoshopped cowl looks much more menacing and is true to the original design.

that's the most important point for me to decide whether I buy a figure or not

haha not a chance i'm buying the medicom one.
too risky for me.
i think you know why :)

I think cowl issues have something to do with angles...

Full comparison:

Now the cowl issue here can be attributed to the fact that the real one he's looking down, where the press shot of hte figure is straight on, straight on in the movie (which its not often seen) it looks pretty damn close to me:

The new suits cowl has a long nose i nkow people have been picking at this with HT's sculpt but its not that off, its one of the reasons he tended to look like robocop so much when he spoke, the nose and whole upper section of the mouth opening was lower on the new cowl than the previous, added to the tighter sides and it really pinched off his entire face.

Personally im completely sold on the HT and am anxious to get it, i dont see any reason to keep nitpicking i even like the pants which i think look fine, they dont nessecarily look like cloth netting with rubber panels but i'd rather have durablity than exact accuracy.

It's 50/50. You either get awesome figures (Goku, Kenshiro, Spawn...) or poor quality ones (Old Snake, Raiden for some people...)

Wasn't everyone complaining about the "original costume's" giraffe neck and after the figure was received the complaints just suddenly stopped?

Just something to keep in mind.

Oh no, it still has a giraffe neck, everybody just got tired of talking about it (it's a valid complaint). But thank you for bringing it up again, darren.

Sigh, there is no giraffe neck issue. The figure looks totally fine and correct in person. The whole giraffe neck fiasco came about because of some bad pics from early owners. People are not talking about it anymore because it's a non issue.

I'm afraid i have to disagree with you Darren because there's no use complaining when you already have the figure in hand unless you make the revision yourself aka customize it at your own risk.

That is why we come at this point where critics is important for all of us.
To be honest I am satisfied with the improvements HT made, really.
As I pointed before, it just a small details I suggested.

It is a doll, figure portrayed as a "high end" collectible geared towards adults.

Considering it is a toy, It looks really darn close to the real thing giraffe neck, eyes, cowl and all

I own one. I see it. It's there. Long neck.

You know what? agree to disagree. There's no point going any further with this. You're not changing my mind, I'm not changing yours, what's the point. (This is applicable to the TDK figure too).
