At some point I'm sure that will come into play as well. But not today!

Guinness outside of ireland I've been told isn't real Guinness? I've only drank Guinness outside of Ireland so I wouldn't know?!

I'm really surprised this still hasn't sold out at SSC, shocked even. Never thought I'd see the day where Iron Man would be a more popular and sought after collectible than the Dark Knight. :huh

The marketing for this presale was just off and somewhat deceptive.

I might be alone on this, but for me, the deception was from this thread with everyone making it sound like it was going to be very limited. I may have missed where Sideshow may have mislead anyone here. According to the newsletter, it just PPO @ whatever time and that's it. Also someone from SS posted something about when the timeframe of the order will be up on their site. But that's it. I got caught up in the hype by following this thread and hopes of acquiring on of these again.

I understand you and anyone else has a right to voice their concerns about poor Q/C to Sideshow, everyone does. But I applaud Hot Toys working with Sideshow to give a chance to have their customers to own this figure that they will not get otherwise without breaking the bank.

Common sense tells me that if I don't like a company, I won't support them with my wallet. :huh

As far as honest marketing, it doesn't get much more honest than SideshowAlex and CAhobbit poking their pretty little heads in here repeatedly to tell everybody that there'll be more than enough to go around.

Again, Sgt. I never said I didn't like SSC's.

I'm sure SSC's has many buyers who know nothing of this forum, so they'd never see anything they posted.

People are trying to do it to gun companies as we speak and effectively only keeping them out of the hands of those who'd use them to defend themselves.

TDK without Ledger death-hype = Batman < Iron Man. :wink1:

And I'd argue that the hype wasn't nearly as frantic outside if this forum and it's members. :wink1:

:goodpost: You're not alone...EVERY thread on this forum tends to bring up unrealistic expectations. First it is the look/the preview. People make guesses and debate whether the stormtroopers face is 1/1000 mm too wide and such. Then it is the preorder and people guess the ES unless posted. Then they receive it months down the road and the in hand photo debate begins. I get that; this forum helps throw more gasoline on the fire as far as expectations, BUT SSC's sending out numerous emails saying it's limited ed. and you better get one while you can type marketing, made it sound like something to take time away from my work and actually pursue as I like Batman and the figure is awesome and SSC's is advertising it as limited ed., which anyone would imply this was more limited than their regular offerings and in hindsight it isn't.

I'm sure it's due to ht making alot and overstocking. This thread was bumping and had newbs crawling out of the woodwork just for it to not sell out? Doesn't make sense. There's a lot of demand for this. Atleast there was.

I most have missed all those emails that SS state you better get one. I only received one newsletter letting us know when the PPO will be up. Plus we still do not know the whole "deal" with the edition size. It could be that not many people have ordered this or this could be just be an open time frame to see how many more HT will produce. Bottom line is, none of us know the real deal. Until a rep from SS or HT states "We over produced" or "We only made more for those who pre-orderd through SS", I'm not going to assume anything.

I received a newsletter and 2 emails since what, last thu. Good advice though. On a go forward basis, I'm ignoring PPO's as obviously they are not needed, except to make sure retailers aren't gobbling them up.

Advice was never given. Don't twist my words. If that what you want to do. Cool.

Still do not see any deception on SS part. Now if you received emails stating to buy it while you can. Then I can see your point. But I have not seen any wrong doing on SS part with this particular order.

I'm not sure that's what he was saying. But given that, ignoring PPOs, might not be the wisest step. Yes, this one was overhyped (thank you Freaks :thwak), but the next might not be so. :lecture:lecture:lecture

Do I really have to define "priority" and its connotations?

Any news on if the BW HS size is off or if it look right in hand? Might have been lighting in certain pics?

Do I really have to define "priority" and its connotations?

In context to Sideshow's PPO, that's a straw man argument. All that means from Sideshow's perspective is that they're making the sale of this figure a priority to newsletter subscribers and streamlining the website for it. It's that customer service thing you were talking about the other day. :wink1:

What it doesn't mean is that collectors should drop everything and make it their priority. If that's the way you took it, again, that's on you and not Sideshow as it's clearly stated what a Priority Pre-Order is on the Help Desk pages.

How often are PPO's done? I've never seen one before this one as I've only been buying since Jan. I think a lot of the confusion also stems from many of you knowing the drill and others not. If this is typical of a PPO, then fine. But the nature of getting an email/newsletter saying it's a PPO and limited ed at that and a time, it makes the customer think they better order or regret it later. And your statement above does seem to not rule out the importance of PPO's.
