Nice work on the animation MF, looks badass. That effect is definately one of the coolest in the movie.

Great minds think a like I guess coz after seeing Mudsharks cool pics earlier I played about with one this afternoon.

Holy... :eek Could you post a bigger copy of that? Coz I think I see a new wallpaper for my PC.

Thanks guys, glad you like it. Unfortunatley I dont have a higher rez version since this is the size of the original photo.

I havent watched P2 in a long time so I wasn't really going for accuracy but I'l add some water splashes etc I need to rework some of the energy bolts too, there is a swastika type thing going on around his arm that I hadnt noticed before   :lol

You can blame that on my camera... it's an oldie - 2.1 megapixels. If I set the rez to Super HQ that would boost it a bit. Don't know if it'll be enough, but you're certainly welcome to try! If you'd like some more pics to play with, give me a few days to see what I can come up with. I'll get the figure all put back together and try to use a better light source, too. And if there's any way you could make some wallpaper with it, I'd definitely be down for it. :D

I feel your pain bro, my camera is an antique by todays standards too. Id love a better digi camera and take advantage of manual controls and a decent lens.

Feel free to send me some more pics if you like buddy and I'l see what I can do. Making Predator comps is a lot of fun thats for sure, so here shoping for a P1 this year. I made some changes to my earlier predator pic.

Now that **** looks awesome, id recommend adding some fog around him. See in the screenshot of the movie its very dark and blue

I've been admiring the HT Preds for quite a while now but always avoided this line cos of my SW, LotR and Medicoms 12"-ers... however i thinks i have gots to get me this BD Predator! I love all the accessories and I've read the early Chopper and Scar preds have a loose joints problem so I can pass on those (trying to convince myself here!)

IMO if i had the option of owning just one Pred it would have to be this one... but then i may buy an Alien warrior for AvP poses... and having said that I would buy a P1 if HT ever make him... oh dear... it begins....

Only Celtic and the first run Scar have the first version body (with the loose shoulder joints) so you'll have to find another excuse to pass on the other 5 from AvP. :D

A blue tint added to the pic to simulate the lighting effect would totally make it look like a still shot right out of the movie! :monkey5

:lol you guys are killng me :lol Was this effect in the sequence at the slaughterhouse when Keyes and his team try to capture the predator? I cant find my dvd of it but I seem to recall them using strange UV lights in there so I tried this.

Yup that's the point. In the film, the Predator takes out Keyes' team without cloaking, then Harrigan bursts into the building, it fires a shot at Keyes and leaps down to the lower level where Harrigan is at and tries to fire up it's cloak but water from the sprinklers shorts it out and then Harrigan starts shooting.

It's fun playing with Mudshark's picture, but I sure hope these ship tonight, should be tomorrow at the latest to start, wonder what all the hold up is, getting very antsy. I've already got some building shots I took in Boston lined up to recreate the lightning shot.

Thanks for the clarification, my memory of the film is a bit hazy. I need to watch it again soon since I always seemed to like it. Yeah the shot of him being stuck by lightning was very cool in the movie, looking forward to seeing your pics!!

I've watched the movie twice in the last week anticipating this figure shipping, at this rate it'll be 4 times before I get it in hand.

I'll be doing the rain shot animtated too, much better than I did with Mudshark's shot, course I only put 30 minutes into that, with a a bit more time I can do better haha.

If you don't mind my asking, what'd you use to generate the lightning effect?

I'd probably do it more manual like my lightsaber effects but if there's a plugin I could tap into that'd be cool too.

The lighting is really dead simple, just takes a few steps

Select b+w default colours and on a new layer create a gradient

On the same layer, use render > difference clouds filter.

Invert this layer (you should see a faint string in white running through the layer)

Go to Levels and drag the grey setting all the way to the right. This should define the white "lighting string" from the black.

Repeat the levels step a few more times if needed.

Then I select certain part I'd like to use with lasso, bring them into the comp and select "screen" in layer blending.

Then use hue/saturation to add the colour.

I manipulate the shape of the sting with transform and liquify tools . thats about it I think.

It really gives a nice effect and the difference cluds always creates random patterns. Useful if you have any Sidious/Emperor pics too :)

Thanks, and yes I will be having Sidious images coming. Amazing how much you can get out of clouds. I picked up a book once shows you how to make rock texture out of a clouds layer. There's just so many things you can do with photoshop, you never stop learning.

Sorry for the jargon tiger lol but I knew MF would understand it.

Yeah photoshop is a really powerfull tool, you never stop learning new things with it.
