Man you guys remind me of me only crazier, you do the **** i couldnt be bothered to do lol
Nice work on the animation MF, looks badass. That effect is definately one of the coolest in the movie.
Great minds think a like I guess coz after seeing Mudsharks cool pics earlier I played about with one this afternoon.
Thanks guys, glad you like it. Unfortunatley I dont have a higher rez version since this is the size of the original photo.
I havent watched P2 in a long time so I wasn't really going for accuracy but I'l add some water splashes etc I need to rework some of the energy bolts too, there is a swastika type thing going on around his arm that I hadnt noticed before
A blue tint added to the pic to simulate the lighting effect would totally make it look like a still shot right out of the movie!
you guys are killng me Was this effect in the sequence at the slaughterhouse when Keyes and his team try to capture the predator? I cant find my dvd of it but I seem to recall them using strange UV lights in there so I tried this.
Yup that's the point. In the film, the Predator takes out Keyes' team without cloaking, then Harrigan bursts into the building, it fires a shot at Keyes and leaps down to the lower level where Harrigan is at and tries to fire up it's cloak but water from the sprinklers shorts it out and then Harrigan starts shooting.
It's fun playing with Mudshark's picture, but I sure hope these ship tonight, should be tomorrow at the latest to start, wonder what all the hold up is, getting very antsy. I've already got some building shots I took in Boston lined up to recreate the lightning shot.
Thanks for the clarification, my memory of the film is a bit hazy. I need to watch it again soon since I always seemed to like it. Yeah the shot of him being stuck by lightning was very cool in the movie, looking forward to seeing your pics!!
The lighting is really dead simple, just takes a few steps
Select b+w default colours and on a new layer create a gradient
On the same layer, use render > difference clouds filter.
Invert this layer (you should see a faint string in white running through the layer)
Go to Levels and drag the grey setting all the way to the right. This should define the white "lighting string" from the black.
Repeat the levels step a few more times if needed.
Then I select certain part I'd like to use with lasso, bring them into the comp and select "screen" in layer blending.
Then use hue/saturation to add the colour.
I manipulate the shape of the sting with transform and liquify tools . thats about it I think.
It really gives a nice effect and the difference cluds always creates random patterns. Useful if you have any Sidious/Emperor pics too
