I mean even $300 for figures seems like a ripoff sometimes. I've seen non-collectors try to guess they price of 1/6 figures and they usually estimate it at like $50 .

Honestly I'd love to see a breakdown of production costs for a 1/6 figure. I wanna know how much profit they are making per figure. But I guess we will never really get insight into that.

I had a friend and her husband over for dinner once, and they demanded to see my collection, and when I showed them, the husband snickered and said: "you're one of those guys"...

People on this board must not have any 'regular people' friends if they think this hobby is normal and/or there is actual value in these dolls over long term. This is an OCD/impulse hobby. If you weren't collecting these, you'd be collecting something else... and most probably have in the past already.

Yeah but don't see the difference between blowing money on a Cybertruck that can't fit a bicycle and melts from bird poo, having a boat that spends more time docked because of the expense (I kayak and there's plenty of boats that seem to sit for years), or a bro of mine who's into expensive wine, or people who buy first edition books and never open them because they'll get messed up.

Say what u like about geeks, geeks know how to do stuff thanks to this hobby. It leads you down unexpected roads (in my case learning about medieval armor), to folks who take up miniature electrical work, casting, 3D printing, painting, woodworking and glass work building cases, Tolkien, history, mythology, metalwork, leatherwork, costuming.

It may not look like much more than a pile of black rags, but there's actually a lot more going on here.

Each of these costumes contains 48 meters (or 52.5 yards) of fabric! Mostly silks, since those drape so well. There are 5 seperate layers of costume here. And there were 29 wraith costumes made in total.

From Ngila: "I retrospective designed it which- - so in fact, there’s a drawing somewhere of the king, a king in an original, fully regal costume. And then I just redrew it, breaking it down more and more and more so that in fact the ring wraiths become- - there are vestiges of that original design as part of that costume. Totally subliminal. The costumes are built from the inside out. That’s a huge amount of detail and there’s a big reality to every single part of the costume. ... And it goes from quite light layers to really quite heavy woven- - not tight, because the textures and those sort of quite loosely woven, quite thick threaded silks."

So "worth" IMO is gonna depend on details, what materials are used, and how authentic did InArt get. I'm happy with my 3 ASMUS Nazgul; for me they are shelf elements and ASMUS is genius at using less expensive materials for effect. Question is, how far will InArt go - will they use cotton, not polyester; silk or a silk mix; wire the outer layers; does the underlying body suck, etc.

Except nobody gets to feel the figs up before purchase, unless InArt brags about the material ahead of time.

So after looking online, the price for the horse isn’t too bad.

There’s new horse statues releasing this year, for $150 without a base or saddle and tack. Or over $200 for the accessories and they lack the scars, nails, and other bits this horse has.

Whats really going to upset me, is if the robes are not wired. Then it’s going to be a giant mess.

If you want multiples then maybe the play is to get this one as a center piece and maybe a few asmus Nazgûl’s. A few months back they were on sideshow for under $200

I actually think the wires will create the mess -- move one portion of the sleeve and the other portion moves too.

With no wires, just a good water treatment and let the fabric drench all over the horse and settle like slime... then it will look good. Wires will rust. They'll pop up when you don't want them too.

Pre-ordered the deluxe yesterday. While it was pricey I really wanted this in the collection. For me this hobby started way back with the Toybiz figure and horse. I can finally update to a proper version and at the same time it's a nice tribute to where it all started.

Toybiz LOTR line was THE next huge collection for me after Toltoys/Kenner Star wars.
Only recently got a few MOC Grails that I didn't get back in the day.
