Hmmm... All I know is that the Toy Biz Marvel Legends figures had variants down to a science. Even simple repaints. Hot Toys could take a lesson from them.
I am not naive, nor am I a 'newb'. I am disappointed, sure, because Hot Toys works on such a sloooow schedule that when a new release is available, it irks when when it brings nothing to the table. What the Secret Project suit does is create demand on the 'collectible market' rather than be what it should be, which is a special treat for the collectors. And please, don't give me any business models or economic theories, I know that Hot Toys wants to make money. As they should. But they are the current kings of 1/6 scale, and this is a niche hobby. Hot Toys figures will never be sold in Wal-Mart or Target.
Because new releases by Hot Toys are so few and far between, are my standards too high for wanting new figures, ESPECIALLY recasts, to have some relevance to the line that they are part of?
We have a total of 5 grey/silver modern-style suits now (excluding the Mark I, of course). Enough already.
I hope everyone who buys this figure is happy with it. It's a great base model to build on. I'm just disappointed that of all the repaint possibilities, all we get is a grey one. Again.
Thx Agentofchaos. I was skimming through the thread and missed it. I appreciate the link man.
Yes. It is a great mold, so they leave it unpainted like an early production piece and it would still look pretty cool. But it just looks hum-drum in that gray, which is why, I think, most folks who are voicing displeasure here are. . .displeased. Stealth Iron Man, Iron Patriot, or any number of other options could have stood out more on the shelf and made it more desirable IMO.Have you seen all the pics?
At first I thought it was a rather boring and unoriginal exclusive but have you seen how awesome it looks?

Having said that, I think this is fine. Just not good enough for me to want one. Not that Hot Toys should care too much. It'll sell out quickly. Hell, they could release a bright pink and neon green paint scheme and it would sell out quickly.
