The lack of "Iron Man" (Stark in the suit) was a bit jarring, but I was used to it from TDKR's lack of Batman thankfully. :lol

I hope this isn't a new trend with these superhero films though. I mean the alter ego is just as important but there needs to be a balance I think.

Didn't take long for people to **** all over this one.

It was received extremely well critically before it hit last night/today, I guess American audiences are a different animal.

I'll post my thoughts later, I didn't think it was anywhere near as bad as folks in this thread make it out to be though. My theater was packed and everyone seemed to be loving it (as much enthusiasm as Avengers). It wasn't even bad really. I thought it was a good movie, more focused than Iron Man 2 anyway.

I guess I could see how hardcore comic fans would be offended, glad I'm not one of those. I didn't even know who the hell the Mandarin was until recently so I thought what went on worked.

Perfect timing,

I'll respect the hate from the IM/Mandarin fanatics.

But since i'm not a Mandarin fanatic, I loved this movie.

I respect Marvel for taking chances.

At least it's still a proper path from IM1, IM2 and Avengers vs TDKR from TDK.

If I could've had one thing changed, it would've been Stark giving Rhodey a War Machine present for the final battle.

Other than that, this movie kicked ***.

Btw, how do we know that the

real Mandarin isn't still out there

Fake outs are the norm in comic books.

Somebody posted this on Facebook which made me laugh

Once again.... had the poster in check out and it sold out during processing.

Why do I even bother?

...and already on eBay (like clockwork)

that trailer makes the movie look so epic but it's False advertising.

Batman retired, how is that any different or better than the twist in IM3?

Bruce created a symbol of hope, Killian created a symbol of fear. :dunno

Bruce's Batman legend presents a feeling of hope regardless who is behind the cowl, right?

Then the image of Mandarin presents fear regardless who's under the "Mandarin" cloak.

Anyone can be Batman, right?

So anyone can be the Mandarin.

Mandarin's media manipulation of presenting terrorism is what matters just as what matters for Batman is for his symbol of good to be present to battle evil and give hope.

dude please ! this movies have nothing alike.
NOTHING !!!

dont try to defend this movie. as a movie is good as an IRON MAN/SUPER HERO movie is not good.

I think people should give it a go, overall it's a good film, I just don't get how some critics are saying it's the best Marvel film to date? I would not even put it in the top 10.

:lol

I could say the same thing about TDKR. Okay movie? Sure. A good BATMAN/SUPERHERO movie? No way.

But that's besides the point. This ain't Batman. That **** is 9 months old. We're talking about Iron Man here. I thought they handled Tony Stark REALLY well and that little kid actually didn't annoy me one bit.

Stark had a better opening (suffering from insomnia and the Avengers events) and a logical ending (SPOILERS) then Bruce Wayne's old, mopey, dopey, cripple hermit turned Italy tourist guy.

Why can't I try to defend the movie, is it a crime. :rotfl

It's really silly when people say a movie is "good" as a movie but in the next breath say the movie "sucks" as an IM movie.

Wut. :rotfl

Make up your mind, does the movie suck or not. :dunno

I know the initial reviews stated that it was "better than Avengers and the original Iron Man" which, after seeing, I don't agree with. But I do think it'd be somewhere in the top 10. I mean, are there even 10 Marvel/Disney films? :lol

Sure, it wasn't as good as Avengers or the first Iron Man, but those two are pretty hard to beat in my opinion. For me, all it had to do was top Iron Man 2, and I think it succeeded there.

(then again, I just watched Iron Man 2 on FX the other night and I forgot that it does have some great parts to it like the Howard Stark stuff, I think that movie just suffers from a lack of focus and fulfilling ending)

I think it has some good Super hero moments, the plane rescue was a great scene, but once again it might not have the same impact on repeat viewings once you know what happens at the end.

Bruce's creation of a symbol for hope is no different than Killian using Mandarin as a symbol to create fear.

Yet Batman is getting a pass. :dunno

What I like about this movie is that Mandarin can still be out there.

We were never informed if

Killian created the idea of Mandarin or just used his image

Guys you know how much of an IRON MAN fan I am. I have spent thousands of dollars on my collection.

As a fan of the series I was dissapointed.
why because they lied to me.

hey guys how many villains did you count in this movie ?

Yeah my favorite of the solo films is still Thor. Iron Man 3 fell far from grace in my opinion with some of the choices that they made that will affect future films. Good movie but bad Iron Man movie (and yes there is a difference). I can see why Joss Whedon asked what he was going to do now after he saw this.

I love how they put at the end Tony Stark will return, instead of Iron Man. Now I don't see this as them saying he's done being Iron Man but think if it was and Tony was on the team as a consulting basis or to build the Avengers tech. That would be lame. In addition if he could remove the shrapnel the whole time and take out the AR then why didn't he before? A lot of weird and unsatisfactory choices made for this movie.

Mandarin/Killian twist > Bane/Talia twist

I almost cried from laughter at seeing the Ben Kingsley "Mandarin" reveal. I know nothing about comics Mandarin, but I loved the twist here. Kingsley nailed evil Mandarin and washed up pathetic "Mandarin".

OLE OLE OLEEEEEEEE!

I actually dug Killian (real Mandarin) too. I'm not a Guy Pearce fan but I liked him in this. Waaaaaaaaaay better than Whiplash.
