At times extremis feels like a little much, but I didn't mind Killian or his main henchmen at all.

I mean, this is a world where the Hulk exists. A massive, green monster that is nigh invincible. It also has Thor and Loki.

I think we can let a super stong fire breathing scientist slide in a world that now features two God's with magical powers, two super soldiers (one missing a face/skin), not to mention Stark's "magic tech" in 1 and 2 with his read outs, tricked out consoles, Jarvis and his Iron Man suit.

If Mandarin had stayed Mandarin and breathed fire because of his space rings power, I think it would've been accepted, vs extremis being the cause.

100% true and no one would have whined about Mandarin being able to do it, which is what makes this whole "unrealistic" argument so sad in the first place. It would have been as "a-ok" as gamma rays turning someone into a Hulk (rofl?) or a long haired hippy with a hammer that returns when he throws it, but because its not who they wanted doing it.... bleh :lecture

**** the magical rings.

I want some extremis, I want to be enlightened (as long as I'm not one of the poor ducks that blow up from bring unstable).

The weak a$$ suits was just lazy writing. Completely ignored what was established in the other films and attempted no other explanation in this one.

Personally I don't care that the film went over the top with the Extremis. It's just that it was done badly.

"Hey lets have him blow fire...Just because.. He will never do it again but it will look cool so lets do it"

It was poorly written and he was an awful bad guy. The film was a mess from middle to end. It really felt like two different films.

The attack on Starks house was exciting and well done. The banter of Stark was witty and fun and then Bam! the film entered the dumb zone. The final action scene was boring. No sense of danger (you would think there would be since Tony spent most of the time without a suit) They completely ruined the Air Force One rescue by making it a remote. Why Make it a remote? So we can be shocked when it gets hit by a truck. That's all. It was done as a gag. It was just weird how bad the film got.

No question in my mind that this film gets despised with time. Everyone loved IM2 when it first came out (not me) but time has shown that films true colors. However it is a far better film then IM3.

I definitely agree with everything mentioned here. Especially the last highlighted portion.

3D or no 3d on this one guys?

I went 2D, but as people said, this is full of gimmicks, so it may cater to 3D more. I was visually overwhelmed, but I went to an early show and was on what would be considered a fairly small screen even to the point where I had trouble picking out various armors at times at the end.

So.... 3D :hi5:

This film was smartly written. The villain was both a physical and intellectual threat to Stark and was a good adaptation of his comic counterpart maintaining the comic book version's megalomania, devious plotting and ability to destroy Tony's armor with his bare hands. The balance of tone and switching from serious to comedic was well done and kept me engaged and guessing where the story was headed rather than IM2 where the audience is well ahead of the story. The surprises were genuinely surprising, the action scenes were well done, the comedy was great and they had room for some nice character moments. The vast majority seeing this film enjoy it a lot, only those who went in with expectations of a Ben Kingsly in hand to hand combat with Iron Man scene, shooting beams from his fingers and punching IM's armor apart, but not too much are up in arms about this movie. :1-1: :wink1:

On a forum where people spends hundreds on toy replicas, it's understandable that seeing them so easily ripped to shreds and wantonly exploded in a shower of fireworks will cause intense disappointment and displeasure. :lol

3D never seems to be worth it to me. It looked good in Avatar, but everything else I've seen in 3D didn't really impress me.

Dredd in 3D was one of the best movie experiences I've ever had.

But my comment on seeing this in 3D was just more to the point, that the 2D gets the smaller screens in my town, so I kind of regretted seeing the 2D version.

They joked so much about the lame IP name that it would've been a huge pay off had Stark made Rhodey another WM for the final battle.

yeah that would've made sense since they built it up

I thought this was the beginning of Phase 2.

Phase this, Phase that, Phase Phase Phase :dunno

Well, he is pretty chilling before the reveal in those propaganda videos. I can't wait to see those deleted scenes where he calls Stark out personally (which may be in the blu ray according to the podcast).

Kingsley is no slouch in either role. I think that's what is so jarring for some folks. If there wasn't a twist and that sinister Mandarin from the first half continued, it'd been pretty bad ***. If it didn't though, we wouldn't have gotten to see Kingsley's other half which was just as rewarding for the exact opposite reason.

There's a 180 degree range there.

:exactly:

He played his roles so well.

No 3D.

No Jurassic Park here.

Ill probably see it more then once, ill have to decide! Anyone know if it was shot in 3D or converted?

That's how my theater is too.

I'm still wondering wtf this is all about? Guess the Mandarin mobile will be in the BR extended edition?

Actually, the shot of Tony in the falling snow pulling the Mark 42 is really, really cool and well done in 3D.
