For me anyways it's not that the twist ruined the Mandarin. I really knew nothing about the character. What sucked was

1. Before the Twist he was such a great bad guy. There was a real sense of evil there. Then Bam. He really is not what we think. A great character wasted. Second viewing will suck.

2. The guy he turns out to be was far too over the top and goofy. **** jokes and stupid personality ruined the whole feel of the film.

3. The back up / real villain was nowhere near as good or cool as the Mandarin was before the reveal.

Nothing to do with the Comics, just the movie

Right with all three, IMO. I've not read any Ironman comics, and that's EXACTLY how I felt about the Mandarin "twist".

I still like parts of the movie, but this did bring the movie down for me. Pre-reveal, I was much more into the film, honestly thinking it might equal the first movie.

Skimmed it.

Good point on the Mandarin there, it would be cool to see them bring him back to be the villain he could have been.

It would be hard, but awesome if they pulled it off.

That'd be cool if they brought Kingsley back as the "real" Mandarin but instead of being cheap about it, bring back Trevor too.

Maybe the Killian's "Mandarin" was based off a real terrorist (hence Trevor's face lift and surgery) and the real Mandarin is out there. Kingsley could play the real terrorist leader and also Trevor.

It'd be lame if they pulled the rug out from everyone and said that Trevor was really just Mandarin pretending/acting all along though. That'd be stupid.

Agreed Difab.

Also,

trevor ****ing killed a guy on TV. How did he not notice he was actually dead and lose his ****.

He thought he was in a movie the entire time, right?

Why would it be lame if he jumped back in as the real Mandarin?

Just some random terrorist would be lame I think.

I thought about that.

I don't know if the actual execution was shown, but good point.
