But he ****ing killed a guy.

I don't care what drug you're on, if you ****ing kill a guy, you're gonna no it. Especially someone like Trevor.

One of the quick clips in the initial credits shows the Roxon executive standing up presumably after the airing stops.

BTW, Trevor seemed like he was about to cry after the gunshot..?

Yeah, you do see him getting up in the credits. That was pretty strange, but also kind of cool.

What happens in Trevor's studio stays in Trevor's studio.

Btw, why did Killian warn no eye contact with Mandarin or risk death to his staff, so they were not in on it I guess.

Mandarin even complains about the wait. :lol

My guess is keeping up appearances. And Trevor was just being a diva. He knows they needed him as much as Marvel needs RDJ :lol

OK, I've had some time to think on it, I'm still gonna see it again. (Probably tomorrow) but here's my initial problem with it.

The Mandarin. He's just set up so awesome. During his first scene I actually thought to myself "best comic book movie villain since TDK Joker. I absolutely loved the direction they were taking with him, it felt fresh and modern.

Then that twist. Oh man, it was hilarious. But I couldn't help but to feel so disappointed about how bad *** and the amount of potential the character had.

Sure Pearce's villain was pretty cool, but he had nothing on the Mandarin. I wish they would have taken a different direction then what they did with him.

I like the film quite a lot (better then the second), and like I said, I'm going to see again so that I'm not distracted for the rest of the movie after the twist.

That's my stance as well. My disappointment doesn't even come from a "not comic accurate" standpoint. I just loved everything I had seen of Kingsley's Mandarin, it was the thing I was most looking forward to in the film. Oh well. At least we got Trevor :lol

That'd be cool if they brought Kingsley back as the "real" Mandarin but instead of being cheap about it, bring back Trevor too.

Maybe the Killian's "Mandarin" was based off a real terrorist (hence Trevor's face lift and surgery) and the real Mandarin is out there. Kingsley could play the real terrorist leader and also Trevor.

It'd be lame if they pulled the rug out from everyone and said that Trevor was really just Mandarin pretending/acting all along though. That'd be stupid.

Killian does mention during the end that he found a "higher political power" to buy into AIM. Take it as you will...

The issue I see is that most people are just pissed with how the Mandarin turned out. I listened to a guy on the radio today just rant about how the Mandarin was Iron Man's main villain and was just a complete wash. Anytime the radio hosts asked him about other parts of the movie he always turned it back to the Mandarin.

Let's be honest here, Mandarin does not crack the Top 10 list of Super-villains, perhaps not even the Top 30 in most people's lists. It's one thing to spin someone like THE JOKER this way, or RED SKULL, or GREEN GOBLIN but I give a pass to the Mandarin because honestly...I don't care much about the character!

Iron Man has never had the stand-out rogue's gallery like Batman, Spider-man, or the X-Men. I bet you the casual fan can't even mention THREE of Iron Man's villains. One of his top villains was Fin Fang Foom the freakin' dragon for crying out loud.

I give credit to the filmmakers for making a HUGE twist and I liked how that turned out at it was a CLEVER motive by the main villain and he spelled it out CLEARLY in the film. "The problem is they're always looking for your face when you put it out there." They put him in a good position to be a clear threat and Stark didn't know it until he stumbled upon the whole sham.

They movie-ized the Mandarin just like Marvel has Ultimatized their characters. If you got problems, there's hundreds of issues with the comics with the Chinese Mandarin in them you can enjoy.

Yupp.

I don't read the comics, so I wasn't sure about the Mandarin. The trailers left me skeptical, but man 30 minutes in I was loving the movie, better then IM1.

Yeah, I never even heard of Mandarin before last year or whenever it was stated that he'd be featured in this film.

After all this *****ing, I looked up his origin and found this video,

I can't say I've been missing out on much. :lol

I mean, that's Iron Man's best villain in the comics? I like the film version, twist and all way better (especially the writers *** with both fortune cookie speeches).

My only disappointment is the fact that we didn't get to see Kingsley's Mandarin all the way through without the twist, but, as cool as that would be, we wouldn't have gotten Trevor (which is just as compelling to me as if they chose to make the Mandarin a cultish terrorist for real).

But think of all the Kung fu action we lost out on. :(

And think of that too. As cool as Mandarin would have been without the twist, what would a battle be between him and Iron Man?

People would complain and question how an old man could kick Stark's ***. The filmmakers were damned if they do, damned if they don't.

The Mandarins popularity compared to other villains shouldn't really be relevant when addressing those that are disappointed with how he was portrayed.

If me and my grandma went to see the Dark Knight and they changed Joker into a fat sumo wrestling clown with an english accent...but somehow pulled it off and made it fit in the story...and my grandma ends up liking it, but I come back and say "ugh grandma they ruined the Joker what a disappointment!" And my grandma responds with "the Joker who? i've never even heard of him. Whatever he was great in the movie".....I'm gonna say "shut up grandma!" And pout.....YEAH!

But, I ain't yo Grandma!

The analogies don't really work. I'm sure even the comic Mandarin's biggest fan would admit that the character isn't really well known, especially compared to The Joker and Lex Luthor (who everyone's Grandma knows).

Wouldn't a proper Mandarin have the mystical alien rings, though? That's kind of the character's power. He's not just some old dude.

Iron Man vs old dude... boring. Iron Man vs Lo Pan meets Thor... that'd I'd pay to see.
