To be fair, the Iron Man suit did almost rape her in her sleep. Imagine waking up to that thing over you ready to rip your head off. :lol

And "abandon him" is a little strong. She gave him a hot shower with her after he was telling her his woes. Sounds like a keeper to me.

Hot shower came before her bedroom freak out.

Ok fine, creepy drone armor did almost crush her skull but Stark sprang to action and eliminated the threat in mere seconds even after a nightmare, then apologized and begged for forgiveness.

What did he get, i'm going downstairs to sleep, deal with that.

Wasn't she leaving him the next morning.

Women bro.

That, and he told everyone (including terrorists) where they lived. I think she wanted both of them to get the hell out of there didn't she?

I know you keep saying that Frank...probably the 6th or 10th time, but it's not going to change my mind, or make me see things your way.

By all means let someone else to agree or disagree. This isn't all for you! :lol

Meanwhile I'm going to continue to hone my argument whether it convinces you or not.

The end is a mess, but that's to please the fanboys. The rest of the film is fairly sound. But like every movie, it isn't perfect. But at the same time, it's a fluffy summer movie, and it does it's job perfectly.

Who wanted to see Pepper Potts defeat the main bad guy? What fanboys wanted to see Iron Man blow up his entire armory?

Maybe gimped out Paltrow fanboys?

:huh

Fans love the mind numbing action of Man of Steel, but didn't enjoy the character breakdown of Iron Man 3. It's the dividing line between film fans, and comic fans.

I won't even presume to think most comic fans don't like the twist. I would think they'd be more likely to be majorly disappointed, but I don't think you can really use being a "film fan" as an excuse to gloss over the issue either. Even though Pearce is menacing, Killian is a very poorly written character. His motivation was laughable, his powers at the end were incongruous with what had been established earlier in the film, and his actions were like watching a parody of a low IQ bond villain.

TDK brought everyone together. But it's now waining. But as long as you have good, well developed characters, you're movie is worth watching. If not? Well. I'll pass thank you very much.

Waining or Wayning? :monkey3

Now that Heathmania has subsided, we are finally starting to allow a clearer view of the film's true merits. Still a great film, but not the be-all-end-all.

I don't know. Killian is a great Bond villain. And this whole movie reeked of a Bond film, or Spy movie.

It just wasn't a comic book movie. Which to me, is a great thing. I like a little variety/

I totally thought IM3 was in the bag, I really did. They've been on such a great run lately that I figured there was no way this could fail. Financially it could hardly be more of a success and critically the reviews are generally positive. Clearly negative views toward IM3 are in the minority and the only audience input studios ever cared about has already been dumped into their coffers.

So why fight it? A ripoff is a ripoff even if the matrix has you! :cuss

:lol
Iron Man 3, Superman III bad? Iron Man 3 wins with witty, snappy dialogue, smart writing and great pacing alone. I bet most of the people that cried (and still do cry) at the superficial things like "OMG, THE MANDARIN", "OMG, HE WASN'T IN THE SUIT", etc. had a **** eating grin on their face at most points during the film. We've all seen god awful superhero flicks that are boring and lack any substance, I don't see how anyone could say such a thing about Iron Man 3. Even if the movie works because of RDJ charisma and charm alone.

Superficial? Let's talk superficial. Which was a bigger waste of talent? Richard Pryor playing a watered down version of himself or Sir Ben Kingsley playing a one-note joke character for all of a 5 or 6 minute cameo? Unless someone can tell me otherwise, was Love Guru not a career highlight for him? Some of you must think it was brilliant.

So Shane decides this character is a racist stereotype. Okay. Hire Kingsley, no more asian ethnicity to worry about. Check that off the list. Then he decides that the character had absolutely nothing valuable to bring into the movie other than serve as a decoy for guy who's been dead almost as long as he was introduced. What a useless no good character the Mandarin must be! Just look at all these bobbleheads agreeing with cultlike enthusiasm! Now stop for a second and ask yourself if you saw a majority of those kinds of opinions before the movie was released.

"Yo, wouldn't it be awesome if the Mandarin was a ******* joke?"

Exactly.

Making the Mandarin not the Mandarin is not a superficial decision.

Keep up the "Iron Man sucks" hate. I'm sure most of you will be doing a complete 180 for the summer of 2015 when Iron Man returns and you're slobbering for it to be the "MOST EPIC MOVIE EVAH".

No, I'd stick with just "Iron Man 3 is a ******* joke". Seven whole stars out of seven!

I hope Avengers 2 is an epic movie, with Iron Man playing a big part. It just boils down to execution. If it helps relieve your PTSD about the wormhole of unwanted criticism regarding this particular movie, by all means imagine a legion of blubbering fanboys gathered at your feet begging for forgiveness. :horror

Then you can wake up and kick the dog off the couch. :)

Interesting statement. I suppose if it qualifies as a Bond film it also qualifies as a Home Alone film. Clearly not the kind of movie I paid to see. I envy your enjoyment of it!

Celtic - I'm curious why you're so spiteful towards the comic fans in your unwavering support of this film. Those fans are the sole reason these characters have endured over the years, and a major reason why these films were ever made and became successful in the first place. They have a right to be upset about poor adaptations of characters they were looking forward to seeing leap from the page to the screen. I've read a lot of comic books in my life, and I stand by my opinion that IM3 is a good action/comedy flick, but a bad Iron Man film.

Because i'm tired of it. I'm tired of the petty ness from the fans. I don't care where Iron Man came from. I saw the movie, the movie is good, it's all I care about.

I love Deadpool. I love the early Deadpool comics. And the Deadpool script is pretty fun. Could use some work in the character department, but it's a pretty alright Deadpool tale. Is it accurate? Sort of. They changed a lot, but the character stayed the same.

They even changed the villain pretty far from his source material. But that's OK. Because it works for the story they're telling.

I just don't know why comic fans need to have 100% accuracy with every single film. Especially one as far along in the franchise as this. I think it's earned it's ability to come up with it's own path now.

Becuase not everyone went to school for game design, with a specializeation in story development and narative....

and then ended up with tons of far too specific skills, and no expierence and the inability to get a job, and obscene amounts of student debt

So... if anyone wants me to come on and help with A Film, let me know

poking fun at myself aside, I sometimes wonder if people in hollyweird really give any SERIOUS thought to the stories they tell sometimes. Or if they just go with the first Idea they get, and don't make any REAL attempt to flesh it out in a way that makes sense.
I wish they'd think like you.

Or Thor really never tried to kill or maim Iron Man in his suit?
He wasn't adopted :D

They were all sweatshops. Probably killians sweatshops. So I'm going to go with them not being real ten rings places.

That not being clear in the film, and the writer having to tell us that its not the same ten rings after the film I'm going to chalk up to shoddy scriptwriting. A plot hole essentially.
You know, like why the hell didn't tony use the party protocol when they attacked his house?
HISHE!

Its all relative to the needs of the story. The Extremis agents are simply the latest nigh invincible force that the hero has to overcome. It was kind of ridiculous when all they had to do to disable IP was to hold his arm, or when Killian regenerated from a fingernail after having the Mark 47 self destructed on him.
I don't get it. Why isn't Killian killed when Mk42 self-destructed? And later he is blown away by a missile kicked towards him by PP(presumably from the suit's arsenal)?
Also, why didn't he use the repulsor from Sneaky's arm that he still had on him?? :huh

What Iron Man 3 represents to me is that when you have an actor who just utterly and completely owns his character like RDJ or Reeve did for that matter, people will be entertained almost no matter what kind of story you put them in.

At this point the IM franchise has rounded the corner into something of a schlockfest, similar to the direction Superman III took. There are good moments to be had, but the movie as a whole is a hot mess
That's what PP said

But he also was drinking champagne celebrating with PP, so he got her back, he's happy, savior of NY, accepted by Shield, hanging out with his new pal Banner in a bad *** convertible.
Loved that found-me-a-new-pal relationship

That should become a gif tho

The ***** isn't even worth protecting, he has a PTSD attack from a wormhole dream and she tells him off then abandons him.

I still can't wrap my head around people's problem with this movie straying from the source material (i.e. Mandarin) but a lot of these same people have no problem with Batman's deviation from the source material in TDKR.

And how do people still not understand Killian's motive and master plan? It was very clearly explained and shown.

I think most nerd fans don't know what they like, they just follow trends.

Mesmerizing! I can't stop looking at it.

I take similar beef with the nolan batman films, in that he's in no way, shape, or form "the world's greatest detective"

But the rest of the film is good, so i TRY to over look it. Hopefully when they get around to rebooting batman, this will not be overlooked.

I mean, come on,Batman is intended to be Sherlock holmes, if he knew martail arts, and was a billionaire inventor.

But I guess 2/3 ain't bad.

Really this is just a diversion from the main beef most people who didn't like IM3 are saying. When you say "a lot", how do you figure? I don't see any evidence of it being a Nolan fanboy conspiracy!

Killian's motive is flimsy that's all. If he were a side villain next to the Mandarin, it wouldn't stick out as much as it did... especially considering he went through all the trouble to create a terrorist organization and the Mandarin based off of both needing Tony to help him and at the same time to gain revenge. It's just not well thought out. If it had more payoff like I don't know, an actual Mandarin let's say, the stupidity might be forgiven. They even had the gall to guilt Tony into destroying his armor for Paltrow Potts.

People sure do like them some RDJ to let this crap slide. Almost every other aspect of this film took a holiday.

Me too :lol.

He actually spells out why he created "the terrorist organization", almost in crayons for the cheap seats, his revenge on Tony is a totally separate issue. No wonder you spend so much time hating on the movie, you didn't even catch the basic concepts. :lol
