I'd say they are servicable, but not as nice as I would like them to be.

My wife's B-day is next friday and was probably gonna get here a new camera, debating between a Nikon D5200 or Canon T5i. Best thing is its a gift for her, but I'll get to use it all the time ...

What would you recommend? Aren't you a photophile?

Go look at some reviews and tests on both. It's a lot of money to not check them out. I'd go with Canon because this has been fantastic for me. I will say though that you need to have the basics of PS down. DSLR always look better when you edit the levels etc in PS.

There was a guy here that bought the same one as me and he hated the pictures he got because he couldn't edit the pictures. He thought i was a witch or something. They looked so different.

Yeah, I've read a sheet ton of reviews of both. Its pretty much a toss up, each have pros and cons. Biggest pro for the Canon is ease of use for rookies photogs and Nikon is steeper learning curve but supposedly better ...She has had a Nikon D40 forever so she is used to Nikon but its older. Hmmm...

You don't need to really. I just make sure the levels are fine and add some sharpness where needed.
