I went because trailers promised me a so-bad-its-good B-movie with a blockbuster budget.
Just another case of me trusting trailers way too much.

BECAUSE I partially am responsible for it's creation. :monkey3

Opening scene has been shown off at CinemCon.

Movie opens with a sequence where a team is on expedition to recover DNA from the Indominous Rex, taking a submersible into the Mosasaurus tank to look for remains, which leads to being discovered by the Mosasaurus. On land, the T-Rex emerges from the jungle chasing one of the team who narrowly escapes only to be consumed by the Mosasaurus.

We've gotten shots of this in trailers, skeleton, waking Mosasaurus eye, Rex chase and chomp and roaring at the helicopter as it leaves, Mosasaurs eating the dangling person.

I watched 2, 3 and JW recently. They're all enjoyable romps, each one having at least something good to balance against the crap.

The Lost World has Jeff Goldblum and double the T-Rex action - the T-Rex was still really threatening in this film, it ate people, at least one of whom was a good guy,

Jurassic 3 has Sam Neill....and errr, well it has Sam Neill.

Jurassic World has a charismatic hero character, the fully operational park which made us so wish it was real and some highly entertaining, if ridiculous and cheesy, sequences.

The first film of course is classic, and has genuine merit, it had stuff to say while it busted those blocks.

Sam Neil saves JP3, I don't care much for the changed dinosaur designs/colors, many of the sequences weren't too well executed and the parents were just not enjoyable and often laughable.

Entirely agree. Yeah the dinosaur colours looked weird, borderline cartoonish and every time it cut to William H Macy and Tea Leoni repairing their relationship it was eyerolling. We just don't care.

That and the poorly handled T-Rex death, a lot going against JP3, more so than for it, but, what is good about it makes it worth watching and accepting in the franchise, it's not so bad as to want to disown it and never see it again.

There's a new(ish) guy in town...his name's Chris Pratt

No that guy^ isn't Chris Pratt....I was doing a thing

From what I've seen, people are mixed on Chris Pratt, I really enjoy him both in Guardians and the Jurassic films and in a rare case, I feel like he could carry the torch from Harrison Ford and step into Indiana Jones and continue the feel of the character that Ford established, I usually don't ever like replacing actors with established characters, and I'm not saying I want Indy without Ford, just saying, if it has to happen, if they went with Pratt I think it could work very successfully.

You forgot about Indiana Joan didn't you? :lol

If Chris Pratt was announced, I would be thankful some more my praying actually helps...

I have next to zero excitement for this. It’s a shame because I like dinos and I like Pratt.
