Re: Keaton Batman

I completely agree... and I'd rather have a great looking Keaton than Bale anyday of the week :rock

I'm with you on that, Keaton will always be Batman to me, but if it's not going to be him, I can't imagine anyone playing him better than Bale, certainly not Kilmer or Clooney.

Re: Keaton Batman

Keaton will always be my #1 favorite Batman. Bale does a good job, definitely better than anyone else after Keaton. And the 1989 suit design has always been my favorite. Begins and so far pics from The Dark Knight don't even come close to it for me.

Re: Keaton Batman

Ya, I love the 1989 cowl design the best of all the suits. The Bale cowl looks alright, but I'm not a fan of the short ears, smaller mouth opening and lack of bat wings fanning out at the base of the cowl. I do like the Bale suits from the standpoint of liking the film in that everything has a real world feel to it and a practicallity to where everything comes from.

Re: Keaton Batman

If the two films have a strict division that's where it would be. 1989 was a cool comic book version while BB is cool real world version. Both are great in each of those aspects.

Re: Keaton Batman

Yup, Keaton/Burton Batman is about fun adventures with the caped crusader and entertaining villains, Bale/Nolan Batman is about a real world man using his means to combat evil and conquer his demons.

In Keaton/Burton Batman, you never really see what it is Bruce Wayne does with his time, his involvement with Wayne Enterprises, etc. so from a practical standpoint, you can't help but watch the films and wonder how is it this one man can manage to construct a custom car, plane and boat, and be skilled at piloting these things seemingly out of the blue. In Bale/Nolan Batman, you get a glimpse at the Bruce Wayne perspective and good insight into how and ordinary man is able to orchestrate everything Batman can do and has in his arsenal.

One thing they both share which to me is key for Batman is mystery; the opening sequence and Axis Chemical chase sequence both featured a lurking, stalking, hidden in shadow Batman, even the final cathedral battle featured that, and Bale's Batman also featured that coming out of the shadows style of fighting for the most part. It's a far more entertaining character when there's an element of cleverness to the character. Schumacher's flash style really departed from that style of Batman, especially with a Batmobile with glowing aqua lights around the chasis, hard to be subtle with that.

Oh, Boy, sounds like it's just beginning!

I won't have mine til tomorrow, and based on what you, GB and Coco have said, if I'm like this today, it's probably going downhill tomorrow lol. Got some fun images planned though, looking forward to finally getting him into my "studio".

Re: Keaton Batman

You may just blow a gasket on this one... or at least burn out a few memory cards :lol

Oh, it'll be a hot time in the old town tomorrow night. :devil

I'm really quite mad. I was studying the way Keaton held the cape when he does the famous move Paul's got gif'n in his signature, and one thing I noticed is his hands are in fists, it appears as though there might be small handles to control the skeletal pieces to make it get that perfect look, and I've been brainstorming ways to accomplish this with this figure. I've also been mulling over ways to capture flying in shots, and maybe if I can make it happen, the shot where he jumps in through the ceiling of the art museum.

Re: Keaton Batman

Indeed. I think part of the slowness with Group 1 was finding the right cape material, then Group 2 came the new head sculpt and the rubber materials issues there, so it looks like now he can just get into a rhythm. I expect these all could be done and in hand by U.S. Thanksgiving time.

Oh Sean, if you can do what you did with Maul, this will be a snap! :D

Thanks for the vote of confidence Paul, some shots, Shawn's work will lend itself to achieving, some of it, I'll have to turn into Tim Burton and figure out how to pull it off, but I am determined to try, "because nobody else can."

By the way, I'm not being cocky, just using a Keaton line because it fit into my statement :)

Re: Keaton Batman

I'm not the shutterbug MaulFan is but this figure was just easy to shoot to me.
I can't wait to see the museum skylight scene recreated with Bats. It has always been one of my favorite scenes in the movie.

For me, the appeal of it was that everything seemed perfect in that moment; the sound of the glass shattering, Elfman's music, the surprise of the moment, the movement of Batman as he comes in, every element was done masterfully, I imagine they put a lot into making sure it happened right.

Re: Keaton Batman

Yeah, that is definitely a key scene and one I'd love to see you replicate with the figure. I think if you can get the cape sorted out... the body will be able to pose the rest.

One think I noticed the other day when watching the movie is that with most (if not all) of the grand and mysterious flying entrances once he stopped you could get a glimpse of the gadget he just used. I thought that was a cool nod to how Batman would use technology to help add to his mystique.

Re: Keaton Batman

One thing that hit me watching the film, I think part of the gadgets, at least the Batgun, was to cover up the effects. You don't go "oh look he's on wires" because in the movie, he's supposed to be swooping in on a wire.

I have some ideas for doing impermanent wire work on the cape to allow for flying in appearance, like I said, I'm going to try and replicate the method from the film and see how that goes. Without question, I'll be doing the final film shot, the suiting up for the final battle shot, and a few other simple favorites then move on to more challenging stuff.
