My rule of thumb, from now on is what I will dub "Logan's rule." "Maybe a quarter of it happened, and not like that." Logan is continuity, all else is...**** it, I'll pretend that all those movies were told to Laura by Professor Xavier, whom we'll henceforth refer to as the "unreliable narrator," which would explain all of the conflicting details.:lol I mean, ****, how many of those movies started with Stewart's/Charles' voiceover? At least the first three, right?:lol

:lol ''unreliable narrator'' Interesting, I'll see if I can look at it that way...

Yeh. Good spot. :lol

I am a seer.

I thought that was her, and I'm so glad to know that I'm not alone on these forums in knowing who she is.:lol

*ahem*

Not that I'm like...familiar with her work, or anything like that.:monkey3

Nah, I totally am.:lol

I think she has retired (again). Our loss if so, she's really something.

I have to agree with whoever said X-24 should have been Logans clone son. They could have cast an actor similar to Jackman in his late twenties. When the camera pulls back during the home invasion scene with Xavier thinking it was Logan it's revealed to be someone else. Then you could have the current X universe catch up with that movie, introduce Laura in her late teens, and revive the clone son.

Still, it's nearly perfect having Logan face off against what he use to be.

WB, Disney take notice how you handle saying goodbye to beloved characters / actors. The film sets the bar on an emotional level I doubt the other two will ever try to emulate.....so saying goodbye to other actors / characters will somehow feel less impactful. it might be a good thing tho

Well Disney already dropped the ball badly on Han Solo. That was a pretty terribly executed death scene. I didn't feel a thing when Han died.

And now Leia might be written out of the 3rd film. Only chance they have at a real proper death is Luke, maybe Chewie.

I'm not so quick to dismiss that Iron Man's and Captain America's death won't impact me the same way as Logan and Xavier.

RDJ and Evans haven't been slouches in their roles and they've brought alot of emotions to the table in about as half time as the Xmen universe has been around.

The problem is, they probably won't be allowed to die, and they probably won't act the hell out of their death scene like Jackman did. Chris Evans certainly can't.

The good FoX-Men movies has always done drama far better than the MCU movies.

Actually, what are the most emotional scene in the MCU? From what I can remember, the only real standout I remember was Loki yelling at Odin to tell him about his heritage in the first Thor, I thought that was well done.

Let us not hold this to MCU....Disney (Solo) and WB (Superman) were poorly done and just like this film we knew it was coming. The difference imo is Fox took a chance with Logan (why not last of the franchise) on the story whereas the other studio's MCU, Disney, WB will be less likely to do so.

Not saying when Cap, IM, Luke whatnot move on it won't be touching but Logan's was (for me) heart wrenching.

Hmmmm

I would have to agree with you on this statement.

I can't even say that I was entirely surprised that it was Fox that gave us our next TDK in this genre, the acting and drama from the XM series was never its weakest element, it was the action.

Will you admit that acting and drama was better in the XMen series than their action scenes.

I think it's the fact that the movie actually has an ending. No sequel baiting, or universe building. Why would anyone feel bad for Superman dying in BvS when they know he's coming back in the next movie. Same for almost MCU character. It's why I hope Fox continues making one-offs or standalone films again.

Han's death was just horribly executed though, that should have been as emotional if not more than Logan's death.

Hmmmm

I would have to agree with you on that.

You've been doing that a lot lately, what's going on? :lol

Ummm, I don't know :lol

I still think X2 is has the best action of all the Marvel movies. All the good FoX-Men movies have at least one iconic action scene, most of the MCU and DCEU don't have that, so I can't really say FoX-Men films pale in the action department compared to other superhero movies.

I can admit that yes, I do think the acting and drama are the highlights for me, it's why I prefer these movies to everything not Nolan's Batman trilogy.

The first act's very good, the second one's ok at best and the last one's blegh.
It promised too much and didn't deliver.

Then again, I'm used to disappointment when it comes to FOX-Men movies.

The funny thing is the MCU's don't kill anyone important policy was arguably a reaction to things like Batman '89 killing the Joker or X-Men 3 killing Xavier and Cyclops. People were pissed off about those deaths because now those characters couldn't be used again (at least so it seemed).

Well then this is where go our own ways.

Logan was the first Fox Xmen related movie that I think has the action chops of the MCU.

Logan takes it even further though, it is literally the Rambo 4 of superhero movies and that is just awesome!

What's next? A total reboot of the franchise I'd assume?

I can't imagine Fox driving this story any further even with X-23 it's too dark and bleak for the kiddos. They'll need to get back to a more kid friendly universe to make this a prosperous marketable brand. Us old fanboys will be back to complaining for another R rated film :lol

If the next XM movie taking place in the 90's doesn't deliver the goods we just might see X-23 and those other kids leading the charge now.

I will admit that I wasn't particularly impressed with those other mutant kids, they definately lacked the energy of X23.
