For a movie built on gritty realistic violence I was surprised when the silly cgi grass went into effect.

Grass!

Grass!!!!

GRASS!!!!!

How about a practical head explosion. is that too much to ask for nowadays in a hard R?

Yea they all took their shots at him, the grass just held him in place.

Guess he had no go-go-gadget knife in his hand. Which was my only gripe in the flick. Him and his posse's robotic implants were pointless and never used. They didn't even look 'cool' at all.

Yeah great point, inspector Gadget is more versatile and menacing.

I don't think the Reavers' prosthetic hands were really "enhancements," just replacements for lost limbs when they got too close to the kids they were rounding up.

I actually liked that. At first you're all "ah, cyborg troops" and then nope, just a bunch of ****ed up dudes.

That's true...but, maybe they decided to use robotic implants as just advance prosthetics to keep it a bit more grounded.

So no 6 million dollar man jumps and feats of strength.

Saw the film today.

What a gritty, brutal movie. I absolutely loved it!

I definitely want a Logan figure!!!

I still dream of an alternate reality where Raimi never stopped making Spider-Man movies and we'd be getting Spider-Man 6 this summer.

I want a depressing and somber Maguire/Raimi Spider-Man where Peter has lost everything. Aunt May is dead, Mary Jane has left him, etc. etc.

Throw in a brutal villain, include a mentally unstable J Jonah Jameson, slap on an R rating and I'm there!

JK

Spider-Man 4 would have been awesome though.

I think I will have to give this movie some time to settle before I can rank it as an artistic/filmmaking achievement. But it can't rival Dark Knight. No other comic movie can at this point imo.

Two very different films.

The Dark Knight aside from being the CBM to end all CBMs is first and foremost a crime drama. Like The French Connection in the 70s & Heat in the 90s, its the police procedural of its time. Its a war between the law and those that challenge it, set in a concrete jungle.

Logan on the other hand is a neo-western. Like No Country for Old Men & Hell or High Water its a movie about good men doing bad things to get by. A movie where people are on the run both literally and figuratively, in a hurry to do something right before going out in a blaze.
