Who is using drugs now? :duff

Floyd Mayweather the one using banned substances?
January 8, 5:03 PM - Pittsburgh , PA

It has come to light today that Floyd Mayweather has used injectable pain killers such as Xylocaine in the past before fights. The irony being that this drug is illegal in nearly all states, with one notable exception, Nevada.

Perhaps the reason for Golden Boy and Mayweather not wanting to fight in Texas now becomes clear. Obviously if tested there, particularly with the extensive testing he was asking for, Mayweather would test positive for a banned substance. In Nevada, these drugs are legal, and presumably can be used for athletic competition without any legal or financial recourse.

After all the negotiating trouble and accusations about Manny Pacquiao and his supposed steroid use, it appears Mayweather is the one taking widely banned substances.

The reason for Floyd using these drugs is presumably due to the fact that his hands are rather brittle, and he has broken both several times in the past. With a numbing agent to stop his hands hurting he can throw punches more often and without fear of hurting himself as much.

Another question this throws up is whether these drugs are illegal in Olympic style testing. Presumably they will be detected in some form, although whether they are illegal or not surely rests with the Nevada State Athletic Commission rather than anything else. They are the ones after all who make up the lists of what is and isn't allowed in athletic competition in the state. Olympic standards are different to these slightly, although anything extra testing found would surely be inadmissible against Floyd if the NSAC allowed it.

If nothing else, this news breaking again will further damage the already shaky reputation of Mayweather, who has seen his public opinion fall greatly with the drug testing debacle around his possible fight with Manny Pacquiao. whatever Floyd was trying to do there, and surely now it can't have been that he really wanted the testing initially, it has now backfired severely.

Full details about the use of the drug can be found in an old article on Insider Boxing, dredged up from the depths by a Paclander by the name of Maverick65. Now obviously this article is old and was written by someone who doesn't like Mayweather very much by the sounds of it. However if the information is correct then mayweather is probably still doing the same things as he was back then. Brittle hands don't ever get tougher.

Mayweather And Pacquiao To Fight On Same Night?
Article posted on 11.01.2010

by James Slater - With the Manny Pacquiao-Joshua Clottey fight seemingly all set for Dallas on March 13th, fans are wondering what Floyd Mayweather Junior will do for his next fight. Well, according to the latest word on the net, "Money" will also fight on March 13th, at The MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Going head-to-head at the box office with the man he should have met head on in the ring, Mayweather is, according to ESPN.com, looking at facing either Paulie Malignaggi, Nate Campbell, Timothy Bradley or Kermit Cintron.

If this is indeed what happens, then, and the two pound-for-pound rivals, who may never actually settle their differences in the ring, fight on the same night in different venues and on different TV stations - who will come out on top at the box office?

Promoter Bob Arum is hoping to get 50,000 fans to come to the Pacquiao-Clottey fight at The Dallas Cowboys stadium, but now, with another big fight set to take place in Vegas that same day, maybe the fans will be split right down the middle about where to go.. One thing's for sure, whichever fighter it is that gets the biggest turnout and the biggest viewing audience on TV, he'll leave the other fighter feeling somewhat deflated. A real battle of egos is about to be upon us it seems.

Pacquiao-Clottey is a good, solid fight, and my money is on this bout getting the larger share of fan interest on March 13th - whoever it is from the shortlist he reportedly has that Mayweather chooses to face. Mayweather-Bradley is probably the best possible option from the shortlist, but a fight between the pound-for-pound #2 and either Campbell or Cintron could also be interesting.

There has also been some talk that Mayweather may, just may, wind up facing the winner of the Jan.30th Shane Mosley-Andre Bero fight in March; and if this is true it's an entirely different story. For though it's unlikely to actually happen, going by the timeframe alone, a clash between Mayweather and the winner of the WBA/WBC 147-pound unification fight would very likely blow the Pacquiao-Clottey fight pretty much away. As close to a satisfactory replacement for Pacquiao-Mayweather as can be, a Mosley-Mayweather fight (I think Shane beats Berto) would be huge!

Fans have had about enough of the on/off/on/off Pacquiao-Mayweather fight and now that the mega-match looks dead, it's time to move on. It seems fans WILL get to see both stars in action on March 13th after all; just not against each other.

One more thing of note has been reported. Matthew Hatton, brother, of course, of Ricky, will not now be facing Mayweather.

"There is absolutely no truth to the rumours about Matthew Hatton," Richard Schaefer told ESPN.com. "I can't tell you for sure who Floyd will fight, but I can tell you for sure it won't be Matthew Hatton."

This news is unlikely to upset anyone outside of the Hatton family.

thats gross dude......i dont care if its legal, that would be like hittin it with your little sister :yuck If they look of age, dont ask their age........unless their in cali, thats what i figure anyways.

BTW- Mayfeather is still a little douche. Like Dana White says, boxing is always willing to give its fans the fight they dont want :lol Boxing=FAIL

We still have no boxing thread, but I just wanted to share that Pacquiao is coming to my home town in Hawaii to perform on March 21st. I know people will bash his singing but come on now, he still brings in the crowd. To top that off, the PussyCat Dolls will be there!:love

Since Mayweather chickened out he might as well come to Hawaii

Cool man!!! Also wanted to share that Manny Pacquaio is being rumored to having an affair (he's married) with hot actress Krista Ranillo:

They are rumored to be seeing each other when Manny is training in the US, because she went to the US just weeks after Manny went to the US to train for the Clottey bout. This also happened before Manny's bout with Cotto..

If that's true, lucky Manny! :naughty

I really dont feel this will be a great fight. Mosely will tire after 3 or 4 rounds and manny will dominate.
I heard floyd and manny were offered $50m to fight and Floyd said he'd do it for $100m ....
Really hope they just get it on

I'm just worried that Mosley might get a lucky punch in, that can knock out Pacman cold.. Pacman is not known for his defense, as he's an agressive-offensive boxer. :slap

Yeah Mosely is dangerous... knocked alot of guys out but he scared floyd early when they fight but tired really badly and early in the fight before floyd took control.
I can see a tense first few rounds then manny hunting down around the ring.

..and everytime a Pacquiao match goes by, we all look to this pityfully-scared man, if he will ever puck up the courage to fight Pacman.. He has been making impossible demands (US$100 Million for one boxer alone is unrealistic; normally two boxers split US$100M) to duck Pacman:

I admire Mosley for even agreeing to this fight, knowing the odds are against him. He respects and understands the sport of boxing more than Gayweather.
