Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

It sucks how everyone has thrown Hayter under the bus.

"...friend of mine used to be Snake, but Kiefer is a class by himself". -- Avi Arad (no idea who he is, but he knows Kojima and Hayter)

The switch from Hayter to Sutherland, isn't just an insult to Hayter, but also to all of the MGS fans who have been following the series for all of these years.

And no offense to Kiefer, I loved his work in 24 - but, I have to say that he's not the great actor that everyone makes him out to be. Before he was Jack Bauer, he was very much under the radar - just like Christian Slater and Kevin Bacon.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

The fact that they replaced Hayter with Sutherland is not an insult, the way they did it, there's the insult.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I just don't know how you can be so dismissive to a guy who basically represented the franchise. I'm sorry, but you would not be where you are Kojima if it wasn't for the English speaking gamer market.

:exactly: isn't metal gear bigger over here?

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

You do realize, it's possible we've now got kiefer for older naked snake/big boss, and hayter for solid snake, yes?

There is some suspect to the things that David is posting on twitter that reaks of Kojimaesque misdirection, and suggests this is all a ploy.

Also avi arad is the guy who produced Spider-Man with Toby, if memory servers.

Solid Snake is only 12 in MGSV.

Yes, if if it is a prank, it's done in poor taste and in the long term it won't be looked back as amusing and far from brilliant.

Also avi arad is the guy who produced Spider-Man with Toby, if memory servers.

Yes, plus a ton of other Marvel projects.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

i hope Hayter is still SS. I'm not fussed about Kiefer being BB actually. It's fine, 2 games too late but it's fine

Almost perfect. Megan Fox would play all the females, obviously.

Hayter has just been trolling gratuitously on Twitter, and cracking jokes at Sutherland's and Kojima's expense. There's nothing that makes me think otherwise. Folks on this board (and elsewhere) have been looking too deeply into connections, and getting worked-up in their own convoluted conjectures, when it's most likely the case, that there isn't anything of the sort.

The simple answer (for me) is that Hayter got fired. I'm willing to accept that he's very much out of the loop on what's going on - just as we are.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

If there is a 12 YEAR OLD SS with Hayter's voice.......... I quit:thud:

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

It's not out of the realm of possibility we see a pre-teen Snake. I wouldn't mind seeing Liquid, or even Solidus too.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I think a cool way to introduce SS in MGSV is like after the credits we see BB in Foxhound and he's taking rollcall. Then we see a rookie SS with David's voice and that leads into the next installment of the series.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

MGS5 is closing the door on the Big Boss era, there is no more room for him after this. Which is bad news for some, but I really want to play MSX remakes.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I bet that the MSX remakes will still have Big Boss as the main character, and he will have to face off against Solid Snake as his arch-nemesis. Sort of like how Snake was viewed from a second-person perspective in MGS 2 (when playing as Raiden) - except that this time, we'll be fighting against Snake. How's that for a conjecture? :rotfl

I've lost faith in the future of this franchise. I think we're in for Big Bawzz for the long haul, as long as Kojima continues this series. We'll be fortunate if Solid Snake even returns as a playable character. But, to me, it looks as if Snake's time in the sun has faded - just as Hayter's.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

If Hayter is gone completely from the games, I guess I can just not care anymore how much Kojima ****s this franchise.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Y'know what? The theme of MGSV is race and REVENGE right?

Picture this: When Kojima shows up at the E3 conference, maybe he would reveal that this was all an elaborate gimmick that "supports" the themes of his games, that he "successfully" provoked fans the same way the soldiers in his game were when Big Boss went missing or something. Maybe Kojima is doing some sort of interactive social experiment like MGS2. :horror

Nah. :lol

Never said Hayter was going to voice Solid in this game, Just that he won't be Voiceing Big Boss from now on. That torch went to Kiefer.

I'm saying that going forward, we might just see BOTH of them doing the voices for their
