Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

You're right, they only shovel out something if it's still current. And if they back petal with a franchise, it takes years it seems.

Ada Wong is just coming out and it should of been almost 10 years ago.

MAYBE will see a BDU version this year. But if we don't see it this year, I doubt they will even do it.

If they even did it, I have a feeling it will be the DPM and not the Tiger Stripe to coincide with the 3DS renders.

Maybe they will surprise us at SDCC, doubt it though considering all the Batman stuff they could potentially show. It's a complete shame that the same characters dominate the production and custom world (Batman, Ledger Joker, Iron Man, Craig Bond, etc) rather than going for diversity. I suppose it's no different than the 1/6 military world (modern USSOF dominates to the almost complete exclusion of other eras/countries).

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I decided to post my thoughts here instead of in the general Xbox thread. I liked what I saw in the gameplay, his movements look really fluid, and it seems Snake can now jump to ledges easier than in previous games, which is cool. I wish they showed more combat, but I'm sure that'll be revealed later.

Not happy with the setting, I just think it's been done in video games far too much at this point. I know it'll be very intricate to set it apart from other games, but after that hospital trailer, my mind was racing with possibilities for environments, so this was a bit of a letdown. I hope there are other environments to explore.

I wanted more bizarre or cool story bits to be revealed, something that would bring nostalgia for the past games, or just set a definite tone for this game, but that didn't happen IMO, so I'm sad haha. :lol Although the lady sniper obviously brings back thoughts of Sniper Wolf, so there's that.

And Sutherland's voice...he sounds pretty much like he did in World at War to me, only quieter lol. He's not a master at changing his voice (understandably). Not bad at all and I don't mind him, but the few lines he had in this trailer didn't have much impact.

Either way, I'm glad they showed some gameplay and new characters, and I'm optimistic about what else may be revealed in the future. :)

The story looks about as interesting as the PSP titles. Gameplay wise it looks like a blast.

I think I understand the comparisons to the PSP titles a little more now, even though I didn't play Peace Walker yet (can't play on handhelds anymore, gonna finish on my PS3), but I've read up on it's story a bit. I wondering if my expectations for the story and tone of MGSV were misplaced a little, as a result of missing out on Peace Walker.

But yeah, it looks really fun to play, and that alone will be worth the price for me. :)

Definitely worth getting regardless of the story.

I just don't like the idea that Kojima has made MGSPW such a integral part of the Big Boss's career. MPO was much more influential.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Just saw the trailer first off felt like red dead redemption then assassins creed which I hate doesn't feel like metal gear solid I dunno if it's me I don't like this open world .the biggest thing that bothered me was Kiefer's voice didn't feel right IMO. And seriously the horn just looks stupid .I dunno I might pass on this game to early to say.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

If this game isnt coming out on current gen then by the time i buy the game it will be 1/5 the price. Never buy new consoles off the bat. Wait a year, the consoles have bigger hard drives, the bugs are fixed and theres more titles. Not to mention pre-existing titles are reduced in price.

I really think they are pulling an mgs4 with mgsV by making it the end of that snakes saga.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I moved 400 miles for 2 weeks the first time i played MGS4 because my friend had moved and he was the only one who had it. I started playing it at 7am and finished i at 9pm. That was a good time.

I've never in my life have finished a game in a single sit, gotta try that with the Last of Us lol.
