Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

If there was a cyborg copy of Solid Snake in rising i think his boss battle music would of been like that,

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I think when all is said and done this will be an epic game.

Listening to the trailers songs right now and what comes to mind is how a new MGS game is like an event.

Like a Tarantino movie. They take their time to release materpieces rather than spew out crap on a schedule

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

What do you guys think about MGS going "open-world" as opposed to the tightly closed environments that were present in MGS 1 and 2? I really wish that Kojima would go back to the old formula of indoor sneaking missions. I find "Tactical Espionage" too easy in huge environments where you can easily run around enemies and avoid them - like in MGS 4 and Peace Walker. I'm sure it'll be more of an issue with TPP.

I dont like it. MGS is incredibly story oriented. With the original 2 games and 4 ( not so much 3 ) it felt like you were playing out a set routine in the story, how you made your way around shadow moses/big shella/whatever was how the characters did it in story as it pretty much forced you in to these events and areas at these times for these reasons. If everything is open world i dont think we will " feel " the true way we are meant to about the story if we spend half of it pissing around doing side missions, taking alternate routes and all that kind of junk.

Yeah, open-world environments often feel too overwhelming, and I find them detrimental to the pace and storyline of a game. I still haven't completely followed the plots in the first two games of Assassin's Creed II, because I was too caught up in doing the side-missions. At times, I even forgot what Ezio was actually trying to accomplish.

I'm not sure how it's going to play out in TPP, but I don't really like what I've seen in the E3 demo video. Sandbox games aren't really my thing, and I don't think that type of formula belongs in MGS.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

As much as I love the idea of this 'open world', it only works for some games. Take Grand Theft Auto 4...I honestly didn't really care for the story and mostly just went around the city messing around. All the open world factors really didn't make the story a huge aspect for me. Thats just my opinion on it, thats why I never beat the game, and when I feel like causing chaos, I pop it back in xD

I hope this doesn't become the case for MGSV where these side missions or open world factors will deter the main story which I believe one of MGS strongest points.

Just my thoughts.
