I"m not sure if this was worth a thread bump, but I just remembered that the Japanese name for Vagrant Story (the PS1 game), is "The Phantom Pain".

I wonder if there's any sort of connecting, moral themes between that game and MGS V. Or, if it's all just a coincidence.

The only PS1 game I know called Vagrant Story is a JRPG related to the Final Fantasy world...

And it was still called Vagrant Story in Japanese.

I doubt it. Phantom Pain is a real term used to describe feeling with a limb that's no longer there is all.

Vagrant Story is Vagrant Story in Japan. However "The Phantom Pain" was used at the credits in the game.

Love how MG is a mix of some real world history/war, fiction and bits of scattered pop culture from different eras. Going to play through PO+ and PW again to familiarize myself with the events after SE. Didn't want to get wrapped up in gaming again, but can't say no to this one. Need redemption after 4, and open world? Yes please.

Was just referring to GZ, got halfway through both games (PO, and PW) but hadn't finished. Got too wrapped up in Monster Hunter haha.
