Keep them? I maybe wrong but the only person that has actually been brought back after fan backlash was David Bateson as Agent 47 and boy was the game better because of it.

Infamous was another game, but most companies won’t attempt to make the game they really want, because of fan backlash. The fans who think Hayter is the best voice actor ever and its impossible to top him, without giving the new voice actor a chance.

Kojima is the typical mid life crisis example. He's a narcissist so he based Otacon off himself, and then gives this vicarious persona a sex scene with Naomi.
