Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I've never liked the switched gender versions of characters in cosplay, but that is one badass suit.

As long as it's hot girl doing the cosplay, I don't mind the gender switch at all. But, a balding Japanese man in a Sailor Moon outfit is something I don't need to see

Yes you do. Let this haunt your nightmares!

Aside from Kojima, that pic is full of epic (finally using this word). It's Midge Ure from Ultravox and Akira Yamaoka from Silent Hill, both these guys are some of my favorite musicians, ever.

Eeewww. Why do you hate me Ryan...
Aww c'mon. I spared you the pain of a much creepier pic. Much, much creepier. :lol

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Oh la la, watching.

EDIT: Oh, I was expecting a new trailer... I guess this game really is far from finished.

I even think this VA may be exclusive for the trailer....

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I just finished watching it.... mixed feelings regarding the voice acting.

-Skullface was terribly plain.
-Sutherland was veeeeeeeeeeeeeery inconsistent, sadly, mostly bad.
-Miller was great, good enough to not break the illusion which Sutherland and Skull face almost did.

There were times where Sutherland sounded really good, including that "Kept you waiting huh" line, but most of the time he was just talking, no gut, no feeling, it was just bad, after all I've said it reeeally made me miss Hayter :(

I really hope this is not the final VA, because if it is, I cannot believe that they ditched Hayter for this.... I'm being very loose in my judgment but if Sutherland doesn't deliver, I'm gonna have to take back all I've said and jump on the "Hayter" side :lol

I still think everything else looks fantastic (Except AI and Marking), but the VA needs a LOT of work.

Kinda disappointed with Sutherland in this trailer, can't believe the 2 lines of the previous trailer were a LOT better than in this one.

What can I say? This trailer made me doubtful.... Being a half-lifetime MGS fan, that's a 1st.

FIX IT KOJIMA!

I thought he sounded good. Nothing like Hayter which I think is great, because that should be the voice of Solid Snake. He sounded like a more realistic military leader with just enough gruff to distinguish him from regular Sutherland.

You should have trusted me when I said that Sutherland wasn't a good choice for this :lol. I'm a huge fan of his (especially with 24), and I know his voice by heart. So, his performance in the trailer is exactly what I expected.

Anyway, this gif seems appropriate...

Well, he was certainly better than Skull Face. I don't what the heck happened there. Skull sounds like an anime character or something - it wasn't believable at all.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Skullface voice is cringeworthy, I was really expecting to hear some cool creepy voice.

He was different, but his voice register wasn't really the problem, it was his acting, most of the time it sounded to me like he was just talking, there were parts were he really sounded badass, but they were very few.

:lol he won't go away.

well his voice was not so much the problem as it was his performance, I think it's fixable, but I didn't really expect such a light voice transformation.

Like I said, I'm still giving him the benefit of the doubt, providing this isn't the final VA, but my optimism wore off a little with this trailer..

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Thanks, this video grounded me back a little.

Kief's voice definitely fits the new BB better, because that video was clearly a Younger Solid Snake, so it doesn't fit at all.

I'm still having problems with the way he kinda just "talks" most of the lines.

EDIT: After a second watch he does sound better, will have to let the aftertaste develop.

When I first it I wasn’t sure about him, I have played it over about 20 times already, I think once most people shake off the shock of finally not hearing David, it will sound better.

I hear what you’re saying, he did “talk” a little, kind of sounded like he was reading off some cards. But I think most of it did sound good.
