Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I don't give a rats *** about Hayter. I like him, but he is not a professional actor, and there are many who belive his work to be caricaturally over the top. And while I can totally understand that those who actually like his voicework, might be heavily dissapointed in his abscence

David Hayter isn't a professional actor, but his voice as Snake is iconic to the series. Letting him go was a huge mistake. There seems to be a lot of uproar about it on YouTube and Facebook. Hopefully, Kojima is paying attention - unless he wants more death threats and whatever other types of nonsense that flood his inbox.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

plus, why would they come out with a rexs, and the PAK figures. its paying homage to the first solid game. solid is still relevant. even newbies to the franchise at least know about him through 4. unfortunately he had to be a geezer. but the game was still great. mgs is known for prequels so these facebook h-mos need to relax and get off the bb gravytrain. the mgs1 characters were sooooooooooooo much more interesting by far. even the mgs4 ones. those type of games, it didnt have to be all about snake you could have many favorites because the character were so diverse.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

everything about mgs v that has been described in this thread as sacrilegious or horrible, is exactly the reason i more excited for this game than any konami title in years.

Following the previews for mgs v reminded me of the times of mgs 2 back in 2000, when the whole world watched jaw-dropped, the presentations at e3 and the amount of ideas that kojima was throwing at them.

Mgs v is the first metal gear solid game in years, f-*** the first game since snake eater, where you can really see kojima is heavily into it. He is excited, he is involved, he is full of fresh ideas. And pretty big ideas too. And when kojima is thinking big, that means we can expect some pretty exciting things. All of mgs v so far truly has that next-gen feel to it, like seldom other games today do.

Not everybody knows this, but metal gear solid was never intended to be a series, never designed as a franchise or a traditional, continious storyline. Kojima made all the sequels, becouse fans demanded it, but he himself, always treated each game as a separate, independent stylitic experiment. And the redesign, the reboot, the changes that he brings to the table this time, mean that he has an idea for this game, and he is coming back to mgs becouse he wants to, not becouse that's whats ecpected of him.

maximum trolling!!!

I am not arguing that he is not the part of the series DNA. But changing his voice is not the end of the world. Sentiment can be easily overcome. If the new guy will do a good job (and playing the gruff, gritty badass better than Hayter is not that difficult, considering how over-the-top his voice work could often be), then people will forget about it after 15 minutes of gameplay.

We had 5 different Batmans and 6 different Bonds. Almost everyone of them brought something significant to the table. I think we can afford a second Snake.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

we need a game to play soley as bladewolf

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Dont have any arguments - call people trolls. Typical response :)
And why did You bold out that particular segment about Hayter? Do You truly can't recognise the fact, that some people (even MGS fanatics), are just not that into him?

With Bond and Batman, people for expect that type of change to come. But, MGS isn't a series like that. David Hayter has been providing the voice for Snake since the series started (excluding MG and MG 2 where there was no voice-work). He's also credited for providing his input to Kojima on the script for several of the games, and he even gave up half of his paycheck to rehire the original voice artists for "Twin Snakes". It'll take a lot more than "15 minutes of gameplay" for people to forget about him.

Everybody says "this series is not like that", right until the reboot happens. Then it is like that. People who grew up watching the very first few Bond movies with Connery, probably had the very same attitude as You, when he was re-casted with Lazebny.

Also, things like giving up half his paycheck to rehire the voice artists fo "Twin Snakes" is a very nice initiative and I commend Hayter for it, but it has nothing to do with MGS V. Nothing to do with the quaility of the game or its voice work. The thing is, some of You seem like You almost percieve Hayters ommnision as a personal insult against him. Nobody says that You are supposed to forget about the man. Nobody is trying to discredit him and his contributions to the series (although many like me, will still argue his voice acting, while characteristic, was also a bit to over the top for his own good). But if Kojima gives the job to somebody else, he is doing it, becouse he thinks it could benefit this particular game, or he just feels like it as a creator. We should wait with all the outcry and whining until we clock about an hour of an actuall gameplay.

Are you also excited for the next Call of Duty and Battlefield 4?
