I've been itching for a "true" Solid Snake game when he's not old. MGS4 didn't deliver, it was just a sad hopeless ending for Snake.

We don't need 5 Big Boss games, we just don't.

I look at "Old Snake" as being the biggest insult to Solid Snake's character. He just wasn't himself in that entire game, and was constantly at the butt end of insults. Solid Snake needs to be brought back to his former glory.

this is why i was inspired to finish my solid snake area. although i love my bb swag solid means way more to me. pay homage to the man, solid. the one with all the cool enemies, story, and technology. big boss is like a hiker that beats people up.

I like Solid Snake much more than Big Boss and always will. I don't necessarily hate Big Boss at all, I just think it's getting very stale and we need a change of pace.

This constant pushing for Big Boss just makes him even less interesting to me, some things should be left up to the player and not spoon fed over and over in each sequel.

A lot can be done with Snake.

MSX Remakes of Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake

2nd Metal Gear Solid remake, Koji Pro wants it redone at some point.

Snake's story between MGS1-2 or MGS2-4.

I just hope we'll get to see this time how he became the bad guy

exactly, i dont hate bb, just cmon now, theres way more to snake we dont even know yet. lets hear the story already. you know its being worked on. hopefully thisll be the bb finale. cause this ****s gotta end somewhere.

I agree as well, but I still think he won't be seen as the bad guy from the player's perspective after all the retcons. But he still will be seen as the villain in the MSX games.

Here’s a recap of events:

I have been up in Toronto, for the past eight months, directing my first film, (WOLVES -- 2013, TF1/COPPERHEART). On the December break, I came home to Los Angeles for the holidays. I heard then, that recording sessions for MG:V were being put together.

But I didn’t hear anything about whether I’d be needed or not.

So, I got in touch with someone involved in the production. We got together for lunch, and he told me that they "wouldn’t be needing me" on this game. No reason, or explanation was given beyond that.

And that was it.

I drove home through Laurel Canyon, bummed, and thinking about Snake.

To be clear, I love being a part of the world of Metal Gear. I admire its technological innovations, the gameplay, the political message of it all. But primarily, I love the fans of these games. Two grown men burst into tears upon meeting me at the Vancouver Fan Expo last year.

Now that... Is a rare and excellent role. You know you’re making an impact.

And I love doing it.

In 1998, I tried to do come up with a voice which epitomized the kind of worn, put-upon, genetically-engineered clone-soldier that I saw Snake to be. Over time, as the games became more stunning and visually sophisticated, I tried to transition that initial voice into the increasingly real environments in which Snake found himself. My level of success is up to you, but any perceived deficiencies were not for lack of hard work. I have dedicated a huge amount of time and effort into creating a compelling character, capable of expressing the myriad emotional, physical and psychological hurdles that Snake has to face.

Anyway, now it’s been fifteen years, nine games, and an enormous blast to undertake.

If it were my choice, I would do this role forever. To hear anyone else’s voice coming from Snake’s battered throat, makes me a little ill, to be honest.

But the truth is -- it’s not my choice. Any and all casting decisions are the sole purview of Hideo Kojima, and Konami itself. And that’s fair.

And I’ll get by. I am not lacking for employment on any level.

But I didn’t want anybody to think that I was intentionally abandoning them.

And know that I will miss this job, and this character, very much.

I hate how Solid Snake is inadvertently the villain of this entire series, and Big Boss is the tragic hero who is defeated by Snake, while trying to save the world from Zero. As much as I love MGS, I have to admit that the overarching storyline is atrocious to some extent.

David Hayter is a stand up guy. He certainly doesn't deserve that kind of treatment from Kojima or Konami.

Truly sad to read that, he's always been very warm to all fans and I've never heard anything negative about his fan interactions and he loves to do the voice for people.

Kojima should be ashamed, you don't do these games for yourself *******, it's for the fans.

I hate how Solid Snake is inadvertently the villain of this entire series, and Big Boss is the tragic hero who is defeated by Snake, while trying to save the world from Zero. As much as I love MGS, I have to admit that the overarching storyline is atrocious to some extent.

The whole plot line for MGS4 with Big Boss popping up in the end completely ruined any integrity of Snake's character.

Metal Gear Solid is officially dead without David Hayter. So Solid Snake is dead from the series, now David Hayter.

Thought about it too, but it's been floating around the internet for a week at this point.

Either way, I still hate MGS5.

I'm still pissed over Konami letting go of David Hayter like that. He's been such an integral part of the series - in both his voicework and helping to provide input on the scripts for the games. You'd think that Kojima would at least have the courtesy to let him know ahead of time, instead of finding it out like that through a company rep. That's very disrespectful.
