I liked Naked Snake. But Snake in MGS2 was a grizzled veteran who was so cool and in control at all times, nothing he could not handle. Naked Snake never came across to me as capable

While this is all true, I think the only reason Snake was portrayed this way in MGS2 was because he wasn't the main playable protagonist. I think it's no coincidence that we never see such confidence and control when the story revolves around main playable character. So while he may have had a badass demeanor, it was only because he wasn't the one who had to deal with the tough decisions and internal conflict that most protagonist have to face.

To be fair i didn't like his VA in Peace Walker, it was way too forced. But i know he can inject realism back into it ala MGS1.


The Only person that can play Snake Pliskin now is clearly Josh Holloway. I thought he woulda had that in the bag. Instead the two biggest contenders are Jason Statham and Tom Hardy!????? WTH

Tom Hardy couldn't pull it off at all, his stupid pillow lips bugs me and after seeing him as Bane I never want to see a movie he's in again.

Wow wow wow hold on, Hardy as Bane was remarkable! I don't like his pillow lips either but they're not showing on TDKR plus he's amazing in Bronson, but you're right, he could not pull off a Snake, like, at all. Actually none of the names suggested by the media can, I mean, I even saw Gerard Butler there? Wth? Fok no.

Yeah I did like it but I always felt it was kind of odd, now that you mention it it did sound forced, almost an analogy to Bale's Batman getting throat cancer.

Yeah Josh Holloway does fit in well, maybe Nikolaj Coster? The kingslayer.

Although I don't see any remake capturing the soul of the original, frankly I see the concerns of some boardies here when they hear the word "remake". eeesh. lol

Nikolaj Coster is too pretty/bad actor to be Snake. I don't get all the hate for Gerard Butler, he's great maybe not perfect for snake but better than whos on the short list by far. Maybe im just bias cause im scottish :S

lolololol Peace Walker Snake was totally on that throat cancer XD. I just hope if/when they bring back Hayter he goes back to MGS1 version of VA. It was very badass but still believable. I think he was never as good past MGS2 until MGS4

Man so many people nit-picking about being #1 or on the side of BB or SS. If you don't like one or the other and another person does, so what? Everyone is trying to prove someone wrong when there is no wrong or right. Just circumstance.

I think what a lot of you are failing to see and from that are calling out a lot of members on the boards here, is that everyone who replies to BB related posts stressing that they are fed up with BB are not necessarily bad talking the man himself, just the way he's being milked and made uninteresting by Kojima.

I see a lot of people complain about the people who say they prefer SS and go into some self righteous speech about how SS is just a clone from BB and that he was just a pawn that got used blah blah yawn.

The only sound game to come out with BB is MGS3, in which he was used by everyone around him, just like SS. So there's no need to get your your high horse and force your opinions onto someone else. Maybe you think PW is good, that's fine if you want to think that way. In terms of the history and story line of the series some of the things that happen and are possible in PW make it terrible. If you want to overlook these facts or you happen to like them, that's also fine but it doesn't mean that it wasn't lame and un-needed.

At the end of the day you cant expect OG fans of the series, whose initial like of the franchise is based on the early games, to not be upset by what they have done to the series. For better or for worse is in the eyes of the beholder

To me personally, I never really disliked Big Boss at all and when I played MGS3 I was immediately a fan. But at this point, he needs a rest from the series. The whole Snake was a pawn argument is getting very redundant and irritating to listen to.

Solid Snake is the hero of the franchise anyway you look at it. He fought for the right reasons even though he was helped along and puppet-ed by higher powers, but so was Big Boss.

Speaking of Big Boss like he was free is completely absurd. MPO and PW were not his doing at all, in PW the whole offshore plant was allowed by Zero and he was going to blame the nuclear strike on MSF.

We can agree to disagree, but don't misunderstand why people want Snake back, we miss him and think he needs more time to shine and Big Boss has had plenty the last few years.

Also it's complete BS that they wanted to use a new VA for MGSV to try and 'revamp' the series and distinguish between BB & SS. As many people have already said, they've kept the same j-a-p VA for BB.

It's just a brush off method they've used to try and soften the blow from the fans outcry over David
