As time goes by and I replay PW, I've learned to like pretty much everything about it, I now like Hayter's voice too, precisely because it sounds cartoonish, and that's exactly the tone of Peace Walker, I've outgrown maturity and seriousness and I can enjoy ridiculous stuff.

Having said that, I agree, that voice doesn't work with this new darker tone, and Snake should not sound like that considering Solid is much younger in the MG games, but I feel it would strip most of the character's personality if Hayter doesn't do the voice himself, it would be a lot harder for me to accept than Kiefer for BB.

I really can't imagine anyone else voicing the character, it would have to be almost an impersonation, sort of like what Roger Craig Smith did in Arkham Origins, at times he really strives at a younger Conroy.

See, I didn't mind his work in PW during the more cartoonish moments or any of the action "scenes" (PW just kinda has that derpy charm to it). It was when it got to the more solemn/serious moments that required a lot more flexibility in the tone/emotions that I felt his voice took a nosedive and sounded too gravelly. Half the time it sounded too simple or exaggerated that it almost killed some of the more serious scenes for me.

That said, I agree. I can stomach Kiefer as BB based on the various reasons I've stated above but it would be a true loss if Solid Snake comes back without Hayter's voice. If they get a new VA it should be as good as the ones like Troy Baker or Roger Craig Smith's work from Arkham Origins.

Whoa they are teasing the premium package! are they gonna release TPP soon this year then? i thought kojima was still waiting for the majority of people buying ps4 first before releasing the game?
seriously look at those lips, damn :lol

I'm gonna be perving out so much when I have TPP...

I really want the premium edition

I think TPP is coming out by next year, the earliest. Although, there are bound to be some development delays - those things come naturally to KojiPro.

Has it ever occurred to anybody that the Snake we played in GZ or TPP might not actually be Big Boss at all? Maybe he's just an MSF soldier who went under the knife due to the sensitivity of the UN inspection, and he had to fool everyone to think that he is Big Boss. Kojima loves surprises, and I still can't fathom the deliberate change in VA (especially in GZ) which would break the canon in any fictional media.

Besides, he's uncharacteristically has little dialogue and little empathy towards Chicho and Paz and we heard Ishmael in the beginning of TPP, that could have been the Big Boss we were playing in GZ, handing down the role to yet another MSF soldier to impersonate BB.

A change of VA doesn't break canon.

Anyway, I doubt it, he was very sympathetic towards Chico, and I can understand the lack of sympathy towards Paz. The only faint sign that he may not be BB is the fact that Chico had to call him twice when he found the bomb inside Paz.

Also, he has a lot of dialogue in the tapes.

If anything, I like the theory that you're not BB after the coma more, that maybe you're Gray Fox.

A ton of theories have been played around with about BB possibly being a fake, but I doubt it, I think Kojima’s learned his lesson from MGS2 not to pull a stunt like that again. Besides, it wouldn’t make much sense, and really fit with the theme of revenge. Concerning the voice change, this is entertainment, it doesn’t really break any continuity at all in my opinion. Big Boss also had a different voice actor in MGS4, meanwhile the voice he had in MGS3 was there speaking back to him.

I actually thought in GZ he displayed a fair amount of empathy towards Chico and Paz, but he did it more through expression than vocals, which is what Kojima wanted, even when one of his MSF soldiers were killed, he reacted quite hurt.

Ishmael is not real, but even if he was, both he and the BB that awakes in his coma, both have Kiefer Sutherland’s voice.

Not sympathy, empathy. With the "dark" direction direction the series is heading, I doubt (and hope) Big Boss would be sympathetic towards others.

As for his conversation in tapes, I thought maybe it was left intentional for someone to discover. Most people know Big Boss as a legend, and they probably are not familiar with his voice. Maybe the tapes would be the first steps towards the "decoy" trying to get himself noticed?

His expression and body language when he saw Mother Base on fire was pretty damn powerful, and when one of his comrades got shot down in his arms and he screamed in anger, that was pretty cool.

Empathy also, when he tried to calm Chico in his cage, he did it with tact considering the situation, also, the moment when he stops feeling sympathy comes later in TPP, not in the beginning, he's supposed to have some humanity left in the beginning.

I think you're over thinking it, the tapes were there since PW.

Yup, one of my favorite parts of the game, even after mother base is destroyed he seems to care about Paz quit a bit, while Kaz ironically is filled with hate. I'm really looking forward to seeing the angry side of him in TPP.

I think it's still plausible to conceive that it's not Big Boss. In MGS 4, Solidus' corpse was being posed as Big Boss for the longest time - to the extent that Eva, Ocelot and Naomi went through elaborate means to keep up the charade; even at the expense of Eva killing herself in the fire in order to trick Snake.

Kojima has done some messed up things in this series, and it follows suit that I'm fully expectant of some mind-numbingly retarded things to come forth out of TPP's plot...

That is just retardedly incoherent :lol

But it was a skinless corpse, that task wasn't difficult, everything in BB's personality in GZ is there.

The main reason why I don't think the whole thing is a charade, it's because it's got no element of surprise whatsoever, if it turns out it's not BB or that Hayter is coming back, eeeeeeeeeeeeeeverybody will be like "I'm not surprised in the slightest" and it would be just the most pointless and infructuous trolling attempt ever and it would reduce the whole game to a big joke, and I highly doubt Kojima would ever do that to his creation.

And Kojima has been successful in every single one of his previous charades, he lost the surprise factor when he announced The Phantom Pain as Metal Gear Solid V, and the Joakim Mogren/Moby **** thing, everybody now is expecting any of those 2 twists I mentioned above.

Well, it is becoming harder for him to break the fourth wall these days. But, whether he falls in line with predictability or not is still left to be seen. Thinking back, there wasn't really anything surprising about Ground Zeroes, because a lot of the plot was already given away in the trailers. You'd have to be comatose to not figure out that the bald lady was Paz and that she was going to die in the end :lol. Hence, predictability.

Chico gets a boo b job and changes his name to "Quiet" just like a tranny would. Then Big Boss and Chico have some sexy time on the beach.
