Yeah, Hayter has previously stated he would return to the series if he could. He mentioned it in the podcast. He said he'd do it for the fans and because he was so involved in the character.

Looks like Hayter’s return was the reason this was canceled. Would have loved to get my hands on that remake.

At least the team was invited to a meeting with Konami to discuss ideas, hopefully Konami can lend them the Fox Engine to help with a remake, but of course thats just wishful thinking.

That doesn't really imply it was due to Hayter though :dunno

It's more than likely because they'll do it themselves and want to make profit from it - with or without Hayter.

Hayters still got it though. His voice is as distinguishable as Snake as Conroy is for Batman if you ask me, no question

Konami just wants to protect their creative rights to this series going forward - regardless if they plan do the remakes or not, and regardless if they plan to rehire Hayter or not. But, realistically, I think there's a greater chance of the former happening than the latter.

It sucks that they pulled such an incredibly douchy move by strong arming that project, when they previously gave their blessings. It would have been amazing to hear Hayter's performance again.

Thats just the vibe I got, seems like as soon as he jumped on and Konami caught wind they shut everything down, but your most likely right, they probably saw how much hype this was generating and realized they could possibly lose a lot of money letting this go for free.

That's how I viewed it anyway. They realised they were letting it go to another developer for free when they could potentially put it on the FOX engine and make bank, and probably how Kojima wants it to fit in.

I mean they may not have been that happy that Hayter was involved, but I would imagine it was a move by Kojima and not Konami getting rid of Hayter originally. Unless Kojima caught wind and wasn't happy.

I'm guessing Konami care most about moolah and there is love for him within the fans of the series, so if they thought
It may boost sales then they probably be fine with it.

That's why I don't think Konami would do it solely because Hayter was on board.

I wonder if Kojima was for or against it. Tbh I'm not convinced the game would have been that good. Seeing as its not allowed to make a profit, how good could it be??
It's mostly Hayters VA I was looking forward too.
On a side note he sounded good, but still not subdued enough for my taste

If it really comes down to Hayter at this point, I'm not sure what to say at this point. And I was looking forward to Hayter's voice again too

Yea I agree, his voice sounded excellent, but he should have sounded even younger than he did in MGS1.

I also got a suspicious vibe that as soon as Hayter went on board, they shut down the project...

Seems like a horribly unfair kick in the balls to Hayter.

I hope that's not the case though.

Hayter did sound just like at the end of PW though, I was just replying MGS1 and his voice is just perfect, I love it, but it really took a toll on him, I can't say I like the sound of his voice in that trailer.

Yea, that part sounded great, I really hope something comes out of all of this.

PW voice wasn't a good attempt I'll agree, it was all gravelly and everything was way to over pronounced. Just go listen to the ending speech.

That voice isn't anywhere near as bad but I can understand it's still got the little rasp. I like that though and actually prefer MGS2 but it does need to be at least MGS1

seriously **** konami

I think they didn't want it to happen because it was a big deal, a lot of people were intrested in it. Maybe they think an official remake could be a success, of course they do... they don't want MGS to end

Konami is unpredictable, but you can always count on bad decisions for the most part. There really is no way to tell what the reasoning was.
