Looks sweet. Lets hope it's a map that's filled with detail and collectibles like Arkham City rather than empty like GTA or RedDead

There has to be some quick-travel points in the map. I don't think anyone would appreciate hours of just driving around in a wilderness. I certainly won't.

as long as there are enemy patrols(that respawn), random animal encounters, weather changes and secrets to find... I could play the 1 map for days

Most likely call Morpho in to take you to your destination.

That would be pretty neat :lol. Seems like Morpho is going to be tailing Big Boss, considering that he always has Fulton Recovery balloons on hand, to parachute soldiers up into the air.

It's certainly the case with GTA and Saints Row - where there are bustling cities. But, I just wonder if there's anything more to MGS V than just desert. Maybe a large, nation-wide underground base of some sort :dunno.

i know we’re definitely getting a jungle area, which I believe is set in Africa, I think this pic was from last year at the Konami Fox Engine presentation

.

This is one of my issues with realism in the game. How can you Fulton screaming soldiers and crates without anyone else noticing. That would totally take me out of the game!

You can only call helicopters in special drop points but you can Fulton anywhere? That's dumb: and yes I'm fully aware this is MGS were talking about

We haven’t seen what the fulton recovery is like on hard mode though, it might not be as easy as what we saw at E3 and Gamescom.

I think it would make sense if you could only Fulton from certain distances or areas in order to avoid detection. As well as have limited fultons per mission

I hope there's more areas, or at least more interesting complexes. I find jungle/dessert quite boring from all the FPSs out there. MGS has always been about infiltrating bases IMO

Yea, I’m not too big on the desert area alone, I really hope they fill that map up with buildings, hideouts, etc..

I’m digging the jungle areas though, at least from the little I’ve seen of it. I’m hoping these maps are filled with big enough buildings/bases so that we get everything in one, and the transition from indoors to outdoors remains seamless.

I'm actually a little surprised this game doesn't have a jungle as its main area, since most of Big Boss's games are jungle orientated now that I think about it. MGS 3, and PW anyway. but then again, being that it's still an outdoors op, it still fits with him.

I do want to see how jungles work in MGS V though, I think that given how things work in the main map, it could be interesting.

I haven't been keeping up with the gameplay or story details, because I wanted to avoid spoilers, but I saw the multiplayer stuff that was put up recently. It looks pretty interesting! I'm just not really into a lot of humor stuff, like with the cardboard box or fulton recovery system. What I'm really excited about is the advances in CQC, and the new animations. I'm still blown away with the wealth of options in MGS4 with the side rolling, "SWAT roll," shooting/throwing while on your back, side-stepping while prone (Sorry, I don't know the right word), and just the incredible expansion of the CQC system! I don't need any fancy weapons or items, just five me a gun and knife, and I'm happy! I think it would be so neat if you fell on your back and could do a leg lock from that position. Yow-za!

I LOVE the jungle setting, and am looking forward to the desert as well! One of the awesome things about the MGS franchise is the attention to detail when interacting with the environment that started with MGS2. Instead of using a box, I'd think it be so much more fun to hide and move around in the sand.

It looks like they're using environment types from the original MG and MG2, so if they re-make them afterwards, I think it would be a pretty neat transition. Especially since Snake will be pretty bare-bones equipment-wise in that game.

Yea I'm not too thrilled with all the silly gameplay elements they've been showing recently, I'm in the minority here but I was hoping this game stay more on the serious side, I just hope all of these goofy gameplay elements don't conflict with the more "serious" story we've been promised.

That's one of the things I like about those silly features, they're pretty much optional.

You can choose not to Fulton goats :lol and not to use the perv cardboard box.

I've seldom used those features in previous games, I just like knowing I can fool around with them if I get bored.

Thats true, in fact with that answer, I don’t care about it anymore, thanks Gasper :hi5:

Fulton I’m using though, its just way too convenient and I actually like it, I just hope it isn’t easy for players to abuse, I’m going to pretend the box doesn’t even exist :lol

No probs :duff: :lol

Yeah I'll be using Fulton, but I don't think I'll be Fultoning poor livestock :lol

What they need to do is to limit the amount of times you can use it, unlimited is too much of an advantage.

True, I might Fulton some wolves and bears to protect my base from those potential pesky base thief’s :lol
