Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I only played RE5 demo and disliked it so much that I didn't even got the full game, I don't remember ever being that bored playing an iconic gaming franchise.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

The way I see it, there are 2 story arcs, SS arc and BB arc, both connect at some points, thus not messing up the flavor of the overall franchise, I don't see as many retcons as I see "add ons" to the story.

I guess "add ons" are a better description. I just think it's still turning the world upside down.

The whole "Naked Sin" section of MGS4 destroyed what we had believed for years about Big Boss.

But making him the good guy all along, and to have him still alive made me start to dislike his character. He should of just been left alone after Snake Eater. A one and done, with no tarnishing done to the character.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

people are too hard on re 5. its got some fun game play elements and actually continues the story from the first 3 games.

re ORC and 6 are the ones you want to avoid like they actually can transmit the t virus to you

After playing it a lump off rotten flesh dropped off my arm and the smell made me hungry.

Itchy.
Tasty.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I still think BB has more history than SS and justifies the amount of games the we've got.

Which proves the point that Snake was retired too early.

More Big Boss games? Sure, but at least keep the story involved and layered like the previous games. I ***** about it a lot, but PW had a very nonsensical story.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

RE5 still felt like a RE game. You should do it, it's not bad.

You don't need to know anything beyond RE2 to play ORC.

Wow thanks for the input, dudes. I guess I'll give RE 5 a try, then. I really need to go back and replay the entire series, while I'm at it.

I wouldn't really say that. The funny thing is, that we know literally nothing about Solid Snake - aside from Les Enfants Terribles, and from him joining Foxhound at some point in his life. It's ironic that Big Boss used to be this sort of mythical character of the series prior to MGS 3, and now that role has been shifted to Solid Snake.

I guess you're right, the fact that SS aged early didn't give him the chance to grow to a BB status in the MGS universe, but I don't think his profile would fit in it, SS is a man of action, he belongs on the battlefield, I don't see him being behind the desk of major conspiracies as much as I see him fighting them.

It is conflicting to me.

If SS goodbye had been more dignifying I wouldn't even complain.

:lol

That's such a great observation. Nothing before MG1 aside from him being in the Gulf War is known. We know nothing between MG1-2 and MGS2-4/ You got two games, at least there.

Snake was taking out REX variants across the globe, can you imagine a game like that?

:exactly: and that is one of the reasons I don't mind more BB's games, cause now SS is the true undisputed legend of the franchise, ironic as this sounds.

But it's always an emotional conflictive rollercoaster cause I'd like to know a bit more about snake.

I really want those remakes of MG 1 and 2 to happen, at some point in time. I look at the MGS series as being a full course meal. I can smell the food that I want from a distance, but Kojima isn't serving it yet :monkey2.

But, that's an interesting way of looking at it.

I've always found him more of a deeper character, more philosophical than Big Boss. Big Boss is more out in the open about what he is, and at this point nothing is no longer a mystery about who he is and what made him what he became.

After MG2 Snake became a hermit and then was called on once again. He didn't really have much investment in the job until it's real meaning was revealed.

He didn't have a purpose or goal to the world until MGS2.

.

Most of us do :monkey2

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

MG1 and MG2 need to be remade, they need to fit with all the retcons and plus the story is so old that we can't even relate to it since it isn't the same medium as the rest of the games.
