Were never going to get a new story with Snake unless it's a prequel or a remake. It's Snake's franchise, not Big Boss's.

I don't mind playing as Snake on the remakes or prequels, technically a prequel could be a new story.

But it's Kojima's franchise before Snake's.

The problem is the whole Snake side of the franchise has been pigeonholed since his story is finished and there is no more room to include him in besides the stories that were already made.

It used to be that way. But, then Kojima changed the direction of the series to Bigu Ba-zu. It's a shame, because he mishandled the Solid games so much; mostly through his indecision about whether to continue MGS or not, and then ending Snake's life abruptly in MGS 4. He seems to have finally found his knack for these games, but it's just so unfortunate that it's not with Solid Snake anymore.

I think it's just a paycheck at this point. He's become George Lucas to this franchise.

Well said, I feel the same way. And it wasn't even done right, it was supposed to be Snake's farewell to the series and the spotlight was supposed to be on only him...

but of course Big Boss has to come back and give him that stupid CQC hug >_>

Haha Solidus, I like mostly everything about MGS but I've never hid my dislikes on some things, not everything is perfect, not even MGS1 was perfect in my book, what franchise is? But from that, to call a game complete bull****... well that's something else.

MGS4 was bull****. Extremely lazy writing, and it completely deviated from the formula that MGS2 put in place.

Making the Patriots the support unit from MGS3 was a awful idea. All of a sudden making Big Boss the good guy and Zero the main villain... >_>
