No kidding.

Why did it need to be designed as a
Jehuty REX?

I am so tired of him undermining Snake era tech. I'm glad he's done honestly, I just can't take the disappointment anymore.

The funny thing is, we can remove PW and TPP completely out of the continuity and it won't affect MGS 1 to 4 at all. The only problem is... Kojima has made PW and TPP canon. A soft reboot would've been more appropriate, given all of the inconsistencies with the tech in the PW games (and crapping all over The Boss' will). But, nope, it's canon. It's like trying to force two pieces of a jigsaw puzzle that don't fit.

The game is about to get leaked from where i am "By Sunday" and i'm very tempted to get it since it's the PS4 ver that is always leaking as i'm planning to get the PC version ..

than again i could buy both ...

They really wouldn't, unlike MGS 3, which is mostly since MGS 3 is acknowledged and referenced in MGS 4, while I think some hints at future MGS games were made in 3. Outside of Huey and other silly things like that, I can't recall anything that's a reference to future games. TPP would have been fine if say it showed more of Big Boss becoming a villain, but if the story is disappointing as reviews say, then I doubt as much. Also, Huey in these games just disturbs me because of what'll happen in the future. Good lord.

And I really, really can't state how much I hate how PW shat on The Boss's will. I honestly can't. Similar to why I dislike MGS 4 for killing some of MGS 2's sub-text and what not.

This is the best way to put that...that thing. I'm not nearly as surprised or freaked out as I thought I'd be, but, wow.

I'll say this...if this was in Rising 2, and that game was even more over the top than the first Rising...I think we may be...ok to some extent. Wouldn't help too much maybe

Looking at the design, its instant figure bait though. I can see how certain previous designs limit the toy lines that carry the license from actually making them. But with the latest design we see its now opened up a whole bunch of toy sale avenues.

Do you know if it's canon or just "extras" stuff?

It's supposed to be canon, because it appears in the game (TPP) and main plot.

The Official Italian Guide was leaked today (or yesterday, depending on the Country) I had posted a video showing the full guide in the previous post, however, I edited that post because this video was deleted by Konami/Youtube :lol

This was the video BTW :

So, in some other news, that Greg Miller ass hole will be doing a let's play of MGS V on Sunday (like always, he's doing it just to stroke his ego, and brag that he's the first person to play the game on social media). With complete disregard of the consequences (or him, not even caring of the consequences at all), it'll be lots of spoiler material for trolls. We've been warned, people.

It's like the bastard lovechild of Rex and Jehuty!

Heck, I'll call it Metal Gear Inbred!

I would buy into some alternative timeline BS just to make this new Metal Gear plausible and separate it from the main canon. Not only would it turn PW and TPP into a thing of their own, but it will finally have the excuse for all the ridiculous tech.

I didn't look at the spoiler, but I'm guessing from the above comments, it is relying heavily on Peace Walker. I still think it's an incredible achievement for the PSP, but I was hoping it would just carry over the bare minimum. I was worried when I saw the mammal pod in the trailer, but I was trying to be optimistic—I still have hope! Maybe it would have been better to make a true MGS sequel, since I thought MGS2 was more of a existential experience, and he could close the series off with a final prophetic political mouth piece.

I was going through the games in preparation, and I really wasn't enjoying 2. It's a great game, but since I've already got it's message, I'm kind of left with a pretty dull environment with a lot of backtracking. Story-wise and gameplay-wise, the Tanker is amazing, but the Plant doesn't have much depth to the environment or gameplay, and there's a lot of cheesy dialog and melodrama. I remembered that things only pick up when Solid Snake is around, and even though I was playing on extreme, I got to bored to continue playing half-way though. When I came to this board, I originally said that MGS2 was my second favorite game of all time right under MGS3, and I can't really say that anymore.

I originally thought that Metal Gear Solid 2 was Kojima’s platform to advise fans to stop nerding out over the details, and to appreciate life as best as they can. He flat out tells players to turn off the darn console and get our butts outside! Of course, it's a terrible philosophy for artists since they should strive for quality work, but it's great for consumers. Raiden was there to tease players that they aren’t going to ever be as amazing as a guy as Solid Snake if they continue having such a myopic opinion on life. That’s why we get to play with such a dull atmosphere in comparison to the incredible tanker level. It’s why we slip on bird poop, we constantly whine through Raiden, we are forced to cartwheel naked, and we are humbled in seeing Solid Snake perform our tasks in much more efficient methods than we are able to. I thought Kojima’s point is how our expectations are destroying our appreciation of life is no better exemplified than in the conversation with Rose about Raiden and her first date. Raiden becomes attracted to her because of an argument about a plot discrepancy of an old movie. Then what do they do? They don’t go out on some romantic date, or do anything exciting. They spend all night re-watching the movie all the way through the morning. Kojima was basically ripping apart nerds obsessiveness and expectations (using relationships). It takes a horrible event for Raiden to finally deconstruct and reconsider his life. All that VR training (video game playing) didn’t add anything of value to his life, and he nearly gives up hope until Solid Snake gives that uplifting speech about appreciate life’s beauty.

I'm not sure if I feel that way anymore, but that's probably because I played it five times. Then again, there’s some other stuff about that game that I never understood, like why we needed to know of Otacon’s affair with Emma’s mom. I don't know, but I have to take back what I said awhile back. While I don't enjoy the backtracking or the controls and cheesiness (which, to be fair, MGS3 has it's melodrama), I definitely like MGS better than MGS2. Don't get me wrong, MGS2 is still a great game, but I just had a change of opinion.

You pretty much nailed why MGS2 is my least favorite of the numbered games. The story is absolutely amazing, but the gameplay for that game isn't. The core mechanics, and graphics were a major step up from MGS1, but like you said, the backtracking, generic boss bottles, and overall dull setting makes it the hardest game in the series for me to replay.

Thanks pturtle!

I wish Kojima had the ability to make a MGS movie, so it wouldn't have to revolve around video game conventions. Story is always sacrificed in video games, because....they are games. It's why they are considered very low-brow in terms of story-telling. Heck, I would love a "12 Angry Men" style movie with the Patriots debating their philosophies for an hour. It would be an abysmal video game though!

I don't really mind the advanced Metal Gears of Peace Walker because I just retcon them out of my head as necessary components for there to be a fun game. Same thing with Snake running around to get rations, a single gun, or cold medicine behind highly secured doors in MGS1. Although I don't know how to reconcile with the design for the heating and cooling card key. I most definitely the "R1" scenes for Big Boss to stare at Eva in MGS3. There are much more subtle ways to show he was introverted in my opinion. That's one thing I hate in all the MGS games, and found it hilarious that Quiet's design was so shocking to fans, but not all the pornography that was all around MGS2 and MGS4 for no good reason. I think it's pretty clear how much I love the Metal Gear Solid series, but I always loved it in spite of the deplorable elements.
