Picked it up yesterday on the way from work. Stores had it since Friday and I initially told myself to just wait until Tuesday but I caved in.

Game is amazing so far. Played it for 7 hours straight yesterday and I'm only 3% into the game. Told myself to go to sleep but I just had to do one more mission!

The gameplay is damn near perfect so far. Have yet to play any stealth game that offers this level of freedom and has such well designed game areas.

I haven't gotten the game yet, but I hear you get to customize an avatar character at the start for MGO or some such?

Would be tempted to try and make Keifer if it's possible at all. :lol

that's correct, the system used pretty much almost similar to the character creation in Dragon Age Inquisition, the server's aren't up though.

Played another 7 hours so far, literally not did anything story related at all.

@zombie Thanks buddy! amazon canada is horrible notorious of not shipping PO on time without fleecing money for faster shipping, but i got great deal.

watched Ben Moore review, i;m really excited now to play this now. Need to brush up abit on my MGS lore and kojima madness!

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain & Ground Zeroes

Would you say it's better than AK?

I definitely think it is, they're two different types of action/stealth games but with TPP it really feels like the possibilities are endless in how you want to handle a mission. Gameplay wise, I can't think of a better stealth game, the story is being told in doses, it's definitely not absent like some are suggesting. So far I've had about 4 Boss fights, all of them are extremely intense, and like the rest of the game, there's a number of way you can choose to go about fighting them. There's also been small choices here and there that can affect the story too.

This sound great. Roll on Tuesday.

I spent my entire Sunday playing the game since I won't be able to play much during the week, and I've gotten pretty far in the campaign and all I can say is I'm pretty disappointed right now.

This is the first Metal Gear that feels very conventional to me. The gameplay is probably the best in the series but I'm not fond of the overall structure of the game. Everything outside of the gameplay feels very underdeveloped, even motherbase, which feels dead no matter how many soldiers you Fulton or struts you build. There's a lot of things from the original games I do miss, especially the codec conversations. I'm also shocked that there's aren't that many tapes in the game, PW had like 3 times as much tapes as I have acquired so far. I haven't finished the game so far, but I'm pretty far.

All of the characters in the game had major potential to shine, the voice acting is really top notch, I honestly think if Kojima would have given us this story but in the MGS 1-4 formula we would have gotten an incredible game.

As of right now, I give this game about an 8/10 which is a good score but I was really expecting this to be a 10/10. Maybe things will pick up but I don't know how much story I have left.

Thanks for the heads up pturtle! I haven't read any reviews because I didn't want to be spoiled, but while looking at the Gamestop site, I saw Gameinformer's review. I skimmed through it, and they said what you did, which is kind of disappointing. It seems like this is the best game in the series, but not the best interactive experience. MGS may not have had the best mechanics in comparison to others in the stealth or action gene, but the way the games blend so many gameplay elements together with their uncompromised story-telling is what elevated them above the rest for me. The good thing for me is that I'll probably only get 15 minutes a day to play it throughout the week, so at least I can get somewhere in the game without worrying if I'll be able to finish a cutscene before having to end my playtime!

Before some of the Play Arts go up in price, is there a character that I'm going to be upset on passing on? It's probably going to take me months to finish the game, but I trust your opinion when it comes to characters. I just want a couple of figures to represent the MGS series, so I'm wondering if I should hold off and wait for a company to make a really good olive drab MGS3 Big Boss and get someone to accompany him, or hold out if Hot Toys ever makes that rumored Old Snake.

I don't even need to play this to know this is wrong. Good game? Probably, but the title of best is already taken.

ughhhh. Every now and again you get a mission where you spend around 90 minutes to progress passed a 2 minute section because of difficulty spikes. The AI in this game has far too great a sight. You can be half a mile away, on the " side " of your horse then all of a sudden the entire area is alerted and you just have to run around like an idiot undoing all of the stealth you had priorly done.

Im like 30 hours in to the game, i have a vague outline in the head of the plot of the game so far but the story and conversations are so little and far between ( especially if you take over a hour for whats meant to be a short mission) that you forget half of whats going on.

Theres a kinda new camo system. You can " develop " certain suits, some camo may suit some terrain, some suits like the sneaking suit we see in trailers have rubber feet so its quieter. Then theres more heavy armor suits that are bullet proof but not good for sneaking. Then you can upgrade the suits to have better abilities like healing speed is sped up ect. But you need to level up in mother base, collect supplies in order to make them. So that way it pays to do side missions to get blue prints for weapons and stuff. Otherwise you will have an extremely limited set of suits to choose from!

Theres no actual % that appears on the screen though to say how hidden you are. You just have to press triangle/Y when laying down to hug the ground and hope nobody comes too close.

The difficulty spike was the biggest complaint I had with Ground Zeroes. I love a challenging experience, but it was overkill how every enemy had eagle-vision.

I do like it's more realistic when it came to hiding... I love MGS3, but it became silly that you got 99% camo and you can clearly see yourself. :lol

I like all the characters a lot, there's just not enough story to really develop them, or even tapes for that matter.

Big Boss, Ocelot, Quiet, and Skullface are my favorite characters so far.
