I'll be doing everything as much as I can before I either get sick of it or a real tempting story revelation is around the corner. I'll be damned sure to the get the Platinum as well, since I've gotten them for all MGS games, sans Rising since that was way too darn hard for me.

Only 12 hours left till the game unlocks. I'll be playing it whole day. :yess:

I think you're the only person on SSF to got the Rising plat. :lol

MGS2 was a cakewalk compared to Rising. At least the painful parts of the VR were 4 minutes at a time at best while getting an S-Rank in Revengeance mode is absurd. Do you ever plan to plat MGS2 eventually?

Yeah I know I'm missing one :lol I didn't care to try and get it, but I will at some point.

I'll go for Plat in TPP, I can't see it being that tedious.

I think you forgot MGS: Grind Fest, sorry, Peace Walker. What was it? 100 hours at least? That was the most tedious plat I've ever seen, thank God I had a buddy to cut the time in half. :lol

I wished there was a story mode co-op in TPP, it was such a great feature.

Good point, but it wasn't a pain in the ass or overly difficult... just took tons of time.

I'm going through Peace Walker now, in preparation for Phantom Pain. Got the platinum on Metal Gear Solid 3 (cakewalk) and will eventually go for Metal Gear Solid 2's platinum as well.

If anyone is interested in getting the Peace Walker platinum as well and wants a buddy for it, just let me know. :wink1:

PSN name is chronosknight

At least MGS4 had a heavy narrative... even though it sucked for the most part. I can't wait to fully break the game down over the next week and see where it truly stands. After today, I'm off until Tuesday... so I got a full week to complete it before going back to work.

This is definitely a knee jerk reaction to the cut scene length especially how egregious it was in MGS4. Even MGS fans couldn't enjoy it.

I'm about 14 hours in. The gamplay is really exceptional, but I'm not feeling much with the story and BB speaking so little doesn't really show any importance of changing the VA/actor (might have to go more into the game though).

I've read alot of spoilers including the data-mined dialogue at the end ... still not really sure how I feel about it. Again, have to play it till the end.

Im feeling like im not getting much of BigBoss character, this silent protagonist stuff is bull **** (for already established characters)
On the gameplay im having alot of difficultly putting it down.

Lol Kojima give it away long ago .

Im actually surprised a lot of what I've seen of the story i have already. Im not that far in; 15%.

Just completed the prologue. Christ is that Troy Baker as Ocelot?

He's a good voice actor but I'm getting sick of his face being transplanted into every character he plays. There's barely a triple A gaming franchise left without his mug in it

When I look at ocelot I don't see Ocelot I see Delsin Rowe with grey hair, I see an older Advanced Warfighter. With games you don't need actors faces. Characters are 100% unique. To have the same face playing multiple characters cheapens the medium

I get what people are saying about Snake and Sutherland. Seems so unlike Metal Gear not to have Snake talk. Throughout the whole prologue nothing, not even a "Christ what is that thing?" When seeing the fire guy.

Is there a way to control the cassette player in game without going into the idroid menus. Same for stopping play of an Intel blurb?

Seems stupid you can't have cassettes play through the dual shock speaker

Well, I haven't played it yet, so I don't know! The reason I love MGS3's gameplay the best is because of the ability for different play-styles and the cqc combat. I'm a melee guy, so that's why I preferred boss battles like the Boss, the Fury, Volgin (round 1), Gray Fox, and Liquid, even though the End is probably the best designed in the series. If I ever get a choice between guns and fists and grappling, it's always fists and grappling!

I'm kind of worried that this is more of a Ubi-soft MGS game. Although, the good team, not the Assassin's Creed teams. Speaking of which, those games get a lot of "9/10"'s from critics, and I'd say the gameplay in those is around a "4/10." The only parts I enjoy are the tombs because they took some brain power like Prince of Persia.

Thanks pturtle! Phew...I'm glad Big Boss is included on that list! :lol

Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed team IS the good team. But, it's not their fault their games end up half-baked. There were articles on it last year. The AC devs have to constantly have deal with nightmarish time-constraints from the corporate execs. Many of the developers don't even go home, and they camp out at their offices instead. The AC devs aren't only making games, but they're sacrificing time with their family and personal relationships for a salary. It's pretty sad.

I honestly could've seen something like this happening over at Konami with MGS V. But, I think it's a miracle that the game actually ended up functional.

I haven't played TPP as yet, but you've practically echoed my sentiments about Troy Baker and using real likenesses for fictional (and unique) video game characters. As for Kiefer, I'm guessing they had to pay him for each line, and that's why his voice work is so limited.

@Solidus I immediately realized after posting that I should have just referred to the games as bad (not the team), but I didn't have a chance to edit my comment. I remember hearing about how those Activision developers work their butts off to make their games on terrible budgets and time restraints. It's disheartening to know that something with your name on it is going to turn out lousy against your will, but you have to do your best under whatever circumstances.

That's awful to read about the AC team though. I will have to read the article when I get a chance. I wish the games were good (or at least to my liking of what's "good") because I loved the story of the first game, and really liked the second. I love history, so I appreciate the work they put into building the world and databases, but unfortunately I find the gameplay to be mind numbing. They sell amazing, so I am in the minority, but I hope I will enjoy the upcoming movie. Fassbender is one of my favorite actors.
