Snakes lack of dialogue is really starting to irk me. It's like watching a Bond movie where he doesn't talk and its either silence or others do the talking for him. It's so weird, even those in full on depression aren't mute 90% of the time. I keep expecting for him to finally talk but then nothing happens.

Okay, I HATE to agree with every single complaint the members here have been saying, but they are right. The game is as slow as Solid Snail, the visuals are last gen, the environment is a vast vista of of nothingness and there are way too much padding and grinding, has is a mindless un-opinionated zombie and barely any story in my first 8 hours, except REVENGE.

It DOES NOT feel like a MGS game but instead it really is Peace Walker 2.0, with less story. The opening gameplay was mindblowing but now I'm reserve to traversing the same barren environments over and over again. Unless this game picks up the pace, I can safely say I'm massively disappointed.

I'm NOT trashing the game, I'm just saying what I feel based off 8 hours of play. I WANT to love this game! Please, PLEASE, blow my mind MGSV! I paid $60 for you! :crying

I can honestly say, I think this is the worst Metal Gear Solid yet. Even the little bit of story it has isn't very good. The gameplay is very addicting but that's about it, everything else just feels so dead, especially motherbase. I would have preferred they left it like Peace Walker since there's pretty much nothing to but walk around when there's isn't minor cutscenes happening on base.

Does the game picks up after this? How many hours are you in? Like I said, I really want to love this, but I'm bored out of my mind! :slap

"But Ryan Foreskin! It has strategic freedom and limitless ways to play!"

I don't care! I wanna play a MGS game, not Grand Theft Black Ops! :crying

Can't even get online to use the second screen function.

One thing that's so un-imaginative is the "D." Names. Seriously with the amount of time spent with a horse why not just let people make it rather than it being called D.Horse.

Other simple features like playing cassettes and briefing through the PS4 controller speaker, Equipping and de-quoting silencers on the fly, pressing L1 or Sauare a second time to stop playing Intel and so forth should've been included. No reason not to.

I don't agree about the graphics I think they're excellent but there's too much empty spaces and I don't know if it's just me going to the same village by chance or if they all look the same but that's too noticable

I actually think it gets worse later on. What happens in chapter 2 is some of the worse gameplay padding I've ever seen just to prolong the game. To me, it's even worse than finding the riddler trophies in AK. The only thing keeping me playing this is wanting to see the ending.

In my honest opinion, Peace Walker is better than this. PW balanced the gameplay and story out perfectly, PW even has more content, this nails gameplay and that's really it, everything took a backseat to the "open world" infiltrating.

The voice acting is incredible, I think Kiefer and the rest of the voice actors are amazing when they actually do speak. I didn't mind if Kojima planned to make Big Boss less talkative so that he could build the narrative around him like Mad Max, but everyone else barely talks too.

The graphics are okay, but they don't "wow" me like current stunners like The Order, Driveclub, and let alone Arkham Knight. It looks like MGSV is a victim of cross gen release which held it back.

Kiefer is not a problem to me, considering he barely speaks in the game. And yeah, PW seems like the better game because it has better PACING and CO-OP.

People were making a big deal out of the Batmobile being overused but at least that thing felt NEXT GEN. The padding in this is enough to last you a lifetime, the afterlife, and your inevitable re-incarnation! :lol

I really hope the game picks up later on as I don't want Kojima's legacy to end this poorly. For all the hard times I've been giving to the series, I do have deep love and respect for Kojima and I owe him a lot to being the person I am today. This however, is just lame.

Jesus Christ, this is VERY disconcerting. I really didn't want to say it, but we told you so :lol

I had a funny feeling in the back of my head ever since this started, I just knew that it was going to pan out for the better.

Mine comes by UPS by 3pm today, so I can join later in the haterade :lol

I trust you pturtle so.....dangnabbit!. Well, I guess the story already ended, but I really wanted to get a good close-out story for Big Boss. You're not finished yet, so there's still hope! Maybe Konami will make an amazing MG remake.

Is there at least a scene as good as chasing Peace Walker on horse back?

It sounds like the prologue is the best part in terms of the "story"...

Much like PW, it's another "who gives a ****?" addition to the plot. All the fighting in here over the years, and the haters turned out to be right... I really thought we were going to be wrong... but Kojima struck again with his nonsense. I truly hope he doesn't come anywhere near another game of the series.

This is more proof that all the reviews were bull ****.

The prologue was AMAZING! I was truly at the edge of my seat sneaking around and the cutscenes seamlessly mixed with the gameplay! Unbelievably intense and well scripted! Right now I really wished Kojima would just have stuck with a smaller, linear design like the old games.

Think this here is a bit relevant to that:

Yeah from the sounds of it, the prologue sounds like what MGS should feel like on the next-gen.

Well better not hype myself too much then, though at least I can look forward to the prologue since the hospital segments in the trailers always looked the most striking.

I'm not sorry for being optimistic because I was really liking most of what I saw about the game, but it sure makes the disappointment greater. Apparently it's going for some kind of existential story like MGS2. However, if it's like MGS2 where I have to get through a lot of lulls for things to pick up, I don't know if I'm going to want to replay it.

Pturtle, would you recommend skipping it if I really care about story? If the story is worse than Peace Walker, I think I'll pass.

The best thing to hopefully happen after this failure, is that the industry/fans would finally call him out on his bull ****. But, that's a pipe dream... he's going to keep riding high on former accomplishments forever.

To be fair even if this game turned out a amazing you would have said you hated it :lol

This is the first Metal Gear I actually don't like, I never agreed with you on MGS 4 and PW, those were great games especially for when they came out and compared to most other games on their platform at that time.

This one however is far different, I don't think any Metal Gear fan would have predicted that this game would have a nonexistent story, barely any boss battles, and almost Zero dialogue. There's like a fraction of cassettes compared to PW. Characters that you were probably worried about Kojima ruining haven't even been mentioned let alone make an appearance. I don't think any Metal Gear fan could have predicted the game would turn out like this.

I think there's about 50 episodes in the game, I'm on episode 40 so I should be done soon, but yea it's really a shame, because this game had so much potential. All of the characters really could have shined in a traditional Metal Gear, what's incredible is, everything Kojima is known for doing with past games, all the Easter eggs breaking the fourth wall etc....are all gone. With an open world like this, it would have been cold to have some random things happening similar to PT.

I disagree with you there, if it turned out good I would of eaten crow and admitted to liking it. As much as I hammer PW, the gameplay was some of the best in the series without a doubt. This seems like it's more of the same, so now I expect to hate it as much as PW or more... but from what you're saying, how it's the only one you don't like... I'll probably REALLY hate it.

I'm taking a break and will play something else instead. Metal Gear Rising, Tekken, Batman, GTA, whatever. I'm tired of doing the repetition and the iDroid voice.

My biggest regret is the poor fans who buy this game because it's Metal Gear. Believe it or not, there are people who don't get caught up in hype and aren't even aware of how much this game forces you to do boring stuff over-and-over again.

I don't know what those reviewers were smoking when they gave it a "10/10". it's a 7 at best for me. 8 if the story is amazing.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain & Ground Zeroes

To be fair to Pliss, he had a mean case of the hate for MGR, saying it will "ruin Metal Gear" and I think I saw a photo of him eating crow when the game came out.

Oh man MGR.. MGR was all smiles, sublime gameplay and adrenaline. This is a snoozefest.

All the "A Hideo Kojima Game" handjobbers are out in force on Metacritic :lol

That proves my point that I can have an honest change of heart. I truly thought it was the demise of the series... boy was I wrong :lol
