Well to each his own, but what don't you like about MGS before? Do tell!

The controls always felt awkward to me and the story was baffling. I could never keep track or make heads or tales of the twists and turns. I'm not a big fan of all of the cut scenes and codex chatter either. I like the basic stealth mechanics, the graphics were always great and the music is amazing, but I felt like I was forcing myself through them more than enjoying them because I wanted to see what all the fuss is about. MGS was groundbreaking and I enjoyed a lot of that because it was so new and it felt so special back in the day. MGS2 was the same way to me in many respects, but by the end I was completely lost and had no idea what was going on. I mostly skipped the rest after that. I briefly played 3, but my heart wasn't in it anymore. I knew the games wouldn't make any sense to me.

Yeah that and there tends to be only 1 option through things. Until Chaos Theory which gave you some more options and paths. That was the best SC game until they went all fast action game on us.

But the realism and overall feeling of "stealth" was better for me.

Don't worry about it, man. I figured those were the reasons. They are all fair complaints, so you'll probably be good with this one. Supposedly it still has some of the "stupid stuff" (not my words) from the previous games, but easily ignorable for an amazing open world stealth experience with great cinematograpy and voice acting.

The controls are awkward and there are a lot of baffling stuff in the stories, so I can't disagree with you, but the pros out-weigh them enough to make it my favorite franchise. I love the social/political commentary, characters, and blend of the stealth/action/adventure genres, and I haven't found a franchise that's hooked me so much as this one. I can be "subjectively-objective" and say that there are better games out there, but those elements are why I love it so much. I think MGS3 deserves to be in a very high spot in the greatest games of all time, but it's okay if you don't like it. There's a lot of people that don't like this series and like that game, so you might enjoy it if you give it another go. There's still some cheesiness, but once you get past the Pain, I think you'll enjoy it.

I think that's what this new Metal Gear does well, the infiltrating feels very natural, which ever way you take you'll end up thinking that was how you were supposed to go, no trial and error which makes the stealth fun.

Blacklist was incredible IMO. They should remaster that game for nex gen.

Best SC ever for me, didn't even care about Ironside not doing the voice as the gameplay and story were so freaking amazing.

Played the intro, and like many, loved it. Bothers me a lot that BB seems mute. I love Keifer but hell, he must've charged a fortune.

Right on. I hear great things about 3. But then I hear great things about all of them heh. Sometimes a series just doesn't click for you. I always respect the games and can really appreciate the craftsmanship of them, but I don't enjoy them. Oh well. I feel the same way about the Final Fantasy series, the Uncharted series etc. I WANT to like these games, but can't seem to. Maybe this is the one for me:) The one that's not very MGS-like LOL.

Sounds pretty awesome.

I've had my suspicions for quite some time that the world was going to be dead, like most sandbox games... plus him being so scared of GTAV was more proof of that theory.
This makes me really question why Kojima did this, if he was so concerned...

I have no real idea of what to make of MGS V, I've had my doubts from the start though. I'm busy with AK at the moment (loving it, but seeing a lot of the complaints in that game too) so I'm not getting MGS V till later, maybe my Best buy will put it on sale and I'll pick it up then.

Also Splinter Cell Blacklist is amazing, yes! The lack of Ironside and slightly faster paced gameplay may turn off some, but I loved it, shows Splinter Cell is back with a vengeance. MGR is also fantastic too, I can't really blame people for questioning it at first however.

Arkham Knight and MGSV two games I thought were going to be 10/10s for sure both disappointed me. I still respect what the devs tried to do with both games though.

I had a blast with Arkham Knight, but I would never play it again because of all the padding. The missions were fun because the core gameplay is great! The problem for me is they were cut in paste from moments within the main story, and they got really boring. I didn't even want to continue, but I wanted to get the ending, and unfortunately it was not worth it for me. The mission pay offs were very disappointing as well (I was really hoping for an amazing duel from Deathstroke). It kind of reminded me of Mass Effect 3. Although, I didn't get upset or anything, I felt hollow after doing all those tasks for what we got. What are you going to do?:)

Everyone has their thing! I can't get into a lot of beloved movies, books, and video games. If you do play it, feel free to leave your thoughts here. I, and I'm sure other folks here, would love to read your thoughts!

So im in a small area, looking for something. i killed the people who were there. then a whole bunch of new people came because i didnt find the item. i killed all them too. according to kaz its on my map. nothing is on my map. Ive ran around everywhere. NVG on and off. vantage points. multiple buddies helping me look.

what the hell is this crap. SO much padding.

Out of context, you sound like a monster! :lol

In all seriousness though, I was ecstatic during the opening. "The Man who sold the world" was one of my favorite childhood songs, and I almost cried at how brilliantly all the scenes were directed, it's that good. I was head over heels in love with the game.

I hope the game picks up later on, as I still have this misguided hope that it will be something truly special, Kojima's swan song, his magnum opus. It's just that it's still hard to get that feeling after 10 hours, and it's becoming worrying.
